We visited Pepito's on a recent family trip to Rome, we are staying out of the city centre and the taxi driver from the airport told us that we are lucky to be staying near the 'best pizzeria in Rome'.......he was not wrong, and in...5 days we went back twice. Both times we were the only non-Roman in the restaurants which is always a good sign that the locals are the main patrons. The restaurant is about a 15 min bus ride from the centre of Rome (on route 170). The decor is simple, with a slight pirate theme (pepito is Italian pirate cartoon), it is clean and the staff friendly and spoke english.
The pizza's were fantastic, cooked in a wood fired oven with obviously fresh ingredients, the special Margherita (6 euros) and Rockerduck (the most expensive at 10 euros) were especially good. On both occasions 6 off us could not eat all six pizza and the waitress boxed the remains that we took home for breakfast. Compared to prices in the centre of Rome Pepito's offered great value, 6 off us ate with beers, soft drinks and coffee for under 80 euro's.
This was a real gem, and the taxi driver was not wrong!More
