There are many tourist traps in Trastevere, but Tonnarello is definitely not a tourist trap, and it is really worth it to eat there. The food is really excellent, the staff is very efficient and friendly. They even made an excellent alcohol-free cocktail for me...that wasn't on the menu! We spent such a nice moment there, that we came back the next day. I really recommend this place!More

We went here the night before new very strict restrictions came into play (6pm close for restaurants). We thought this might effect the staff and the atmosphere, we couldn't be more wrong. Brian served us along with a few others but they made our experience...so enjoyable and we could see how kind they were being to every other guest! There was a table beside us that had two young children and they were making them laugh and smile the entire time. I had the carbonara which was delicious and I would recommend, my husband had pizza which was also very nice! The square where this is located is also lovely, a real Italian experience!! I would recommend a visit for the service and the food!!More

Very nice service with great food too. The prices surprised us too as everything was very affordable and authentic Italian.

Great Roman classics! We ate here twice and loved every bite. Don't skip the meatballs, they're AMAZING! (To remind you: Italian meatballs don't come with pasta included. These have sauce, roasted potatoes and chicory.) The carbonara is delicious! Make a reservation, it gets busy!

Very nice Restaurant in the heart of Travestere. Very kind waiter. We enjoyed our meal there a lot! Food was good for a reasonable price.

We had a fabulous afternoon trying the dishes that were recommended to us and every single one of them was well worth it. It was a recommendation that we did expect would be good; but in this case it definitely surpassed our expectations. I would...recommend the meatballs cacio e pepe and the spaghetti carbonara. A nice addition was the good laugh with Alessio and Bryan. Food: a solid and homey 9/10. Ambiance: perfect setting (we sat outside and the weather was super nice!) Service: fabulously fast, professional, and super attentive.More

I am honestly baffled by the number of 5 star reviews here. I ordered the cacio e pepe pasta which was incredibly bland and average. The portions are massive which would normally be a positive but not in this case. Very disappointed in this meal...especially as I’ve had amazing food throughout Italy and I know there is better food than this in Rome. Please don’t be fooled by the reviews and go find a restaurant that is not purely a tourist trap.More

We stumbled across this place on our first evening in Rome. We went for the Cacio e Pepe and we couldn’t wait! The portion size was huge and we loved every mouthful!

We really enjoyed our wonderful dinner at Tonnarello. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. From the size of the crowd, it seems to be a very popular restaurant. Recommend you go early to get a table as it fills up fast. Very...friendly atmosphere! We will eat there again when we visit Rome!More

Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded
postcard, a little worn around the edges but still
charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering
streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and
overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible
mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of
entertainment - a rotating set of street performers
entertains almost every night, and unforgettable

I do not believe there is a dress code for this restaurant and the atmosphere was fairly casual. I generally encourage reservations but I do not think it is necessary for lunch.
