La Tana Sarda is a self service eatery in which students stand in line to choose their daily lunch. You would think that such a place is not worth writing about, but this is wrong. If you are in San Lorenzo or visiting the University "Sapienza" this is a good choice for a surprisingly tasty food at ridiculous prices. I... More

Visited with my girlfriend when I was in Rome, food bland and staff rude. Cheap meal but in the end you get to realise why. Many better places in the lovely area of San Lorenzo

We were looking for a place that was popular and unfussy but that delivered some honest simple food and we failed miserably. We were fooled by the big crowds and the comments we had heard, but the food was utterly terrible. There was some kind of buffet that seems to be popular with the students but we ordered a la... Tried one Night in Rome while waiting for a theatre festival. Antipasto a Buffet was quite poor. One particular dish, Sort of fried polenta was disgusting. The second course was supposed to be a Sardinian speciality...bleah, I hope to forget it soon. A kebab should have been a better choice. House wine was horrible. Stay away from this place.

I've been in this restaurant in January for the first time because a friend of mine had a great time here years ago but something is changed! The old "Fixed price menu" does not exist any more and price is not that good for the quality of the food. Service was ok, atmosphere not so much because there were kids... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo may look all street with its pulse in urban art and street food, but don’t be fooled. This gritty student neighborhood immediately east of Termini train station is on the avant-garde rise. Art galleries, curated mural projects by artists like Rome’s favorite Alice, charming cafes, and boutique restaurants are slowly infiltrating the streets of San Lorenzo with counter-culture chic. Don’t worry, San Lorenzo still retains its local vibe with weekend festivals and demonstrations, and is always a hub for Rome’s university student scene.
