Our hotel recommended this restaurant as being an inexpensive place to eat. The food was mediocre at best, though they were right about the prices being low. I wouldn't recommend the place unless you want a very basic meal.

Rick Steves gave this restaurant a very good review in his guidebook, so we were very excited to eat here, and perhaps our expectations were a bit too high. We were seated in the downstairs area, which was filled only by tourists, many of whom were carrying the RS guidebook - seems like we were all lead astray! The service... More

We read about this restaurant in our guide books and it just so happened to be right across the road from our hotel :) the food was really good and the prices very very reasonable. Would definitley recomend to anyone visiting Rome on a budget. Also, the wine was really nice and the staff helpful and friendly

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. Firstly we discovered that they put tourist in one section and locals in another and the food and quality is based on if you are a tourist or local. Our meal was the worst of all our meals in Rome. The food was bland and terrible, and all the plates looked exactly the... More

I visited here after seeing this place recommended in a guide book. The food was ok and the prices reasonable except...the bread. This place, like so many others, puts a basket of the standard fare in front of you, a few small slices of dry bread and packaged bread sticks. Know before that you pay extra for this even though... we had lunch here,we walked in before they actually started their service, told us to seat while they had their lunch. Service was good, well we were the first ones there but they were nice to us even if we were early and served us as soon as they were done with their lunch. most of the waiters seems to have... More

The owners/waiters were very friendly and guided us on the menu (Italian and English). Delicious food and wine. We arrived just after opening (7pm) and it got very busy soon after, with locals and tourists alike. Chose it because we were staying across the road and read good reviews on Trip Advisor.

By the time we were ready to eat it was the customary afternoon closing time, but they allowed us in and fed us well. It was a nice place. I had the Fettucini Giovanni, my daughter had pasta and my husband had the quarter chicken with chips.

Last night at Rome we were and decided to continue our adventure recommended by a book compiled by some students. We were really looking for authentic italian food. The moment we stepped into the restaurant, we felt like home. Ordered tortellini in soup and veal and other stuff (see photos). We just truely enjoy the dinner and this has marked... More

This place was recommended both by Rick Steves and our hotel staff, and was a short walk from the hotel. We had dinner there twice during our stay. The food wasn't spectacular but it was quite good (although the desserts, which seemed to vary from night to night, were outstanding); the wait staff (at least one of them may have... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
