We had dinner here. The streets outside were quiet but this place was very busy. Book if you want to go. It is a real proper Italian restaurant full of Italians so you know it will be good. Starters are big so consider sharing, these were very tasty. We also both had a big plate of pasta so didn't get... More

This restaurant was near our hotel and is located across from the Teatro Dell'Opera di Roma if you want a meal after a show. My wife and I came here and really enjoyed the meal. This restaurant felt more like a family run restaurant then some of the other 'touristy' places in the neighborhood. The waitstaff was pleasant and typically... More

Despite booking via our hotel concierge and arriving early in the evening we were seated in the corridor between the main seating area and the kitchen which meant the noise and general traffic of waiters through the corridor left me somewhat disappointed to say the least, and probably has a large bearing on this review Made even worse when a... Close to our hotel, this restaurant is an excellent place to have dinner. Service is nice and the food is quite good. Try Antipasto Buffet as you like, and fettuccine agnello, you should enjoy.

Visited this trattoria on November 17 for dinner on the recommendation of a friend who frequently visits Rome. I was not disappointed with the food, wine or service. I had a pasta vongole followed by scallops of veal in lemon sauce. A half bottle of wine is very reasonable too.

We enjoyed our dinner here overall very much. The 4 euro a glass Brunello was excellent, as was the special pasta. The only thing we were "so so" about was the osso bucco, which wasn't a great quality piece of veal, but both people in our party who got it ate it all. Being from the US, we might have... More

Very popular traditional Italian restaurant which was packed with a mix of locals and tourists on the Tuesday evening we went. We had previously booked by phone and got a great table in the main room by the window - note : there were quite a few tables in a "corridor" which did not not look as attractive. Our waiter... We decided we wanted as romans a true roman dinner, our hotel was walking distance so the choice fell on this typical, old, traditional roman trattoria.Very good choice indeed. One starter from the window, vegetables, fish and omelette, one classic starter, buffalo mozzarella and delicious ham cut in front of your eyes as well as a nice warm plate of... More

We were referred to this restaurant by the hotel staff at Britannia Hotel, where we stayed. The restaurant was within walking distance from our hotel. We dined outside the first time we dined there. Service, food and wine were excellent, above our expectations. We had such a great experience, we dined here again before we left Rome. Great atmosphere, food,... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
