I had seen this recommended on a You tube video and decided to check it out when in Rome. I wish I had spent more time looking at all the delectable cookies in the case as much as I looked at the gelato. I have...had gelato in Venice, Florence, Bologna and now Rome. This was ranked #2 on my list only to be beaten by Perche No? in Florence. I enjoyed a scoop of chololate and menthe. I noticed some people getting theirs topped with cream. It is definitely worth another trip back to try again and maybe unseat my #1 spot. Enjoy this delicious authentic Italian gelato.More

We stumbled upon this great restaurant while exploring the Jewish District. The food and service was amazing and one of our top favorite places while visiting Rome.

We got out gelato at the counter and then sat down to enjoy it. I think we were most surprised by the fruity flavors, they really tasted just like pure fruit. They were delicious.

We visited this establishment after a recommendation from the owners of the apartment where we're currently staying. I understand that its the oldest place of its type in Rome and its clear that its very popular, despite Covid. I get the feeling that's more to...do with its history than the quality of its Gelato, as I've had better from Di Pola's in Hastings England. Like many places that are extremely popular, complacency and arrogance can take over. They have many choices of gelato and I didnt like the fact that the person serving my wife, who excited at all the choices, was tutting under his breath and making some comments because she was taking too long to order, in his opinion! If it were solely down to me I'd have walked but you need to pay for a ticket before approaching the gelato counter..probably why they can get away with the rude behaviour as they have your money already. If you want a better alternative, with much better tasting gelato and polite staff, try the Old Bridge gelato not too far from the Vatican. No comparison with this place and whilst Giolitti wont notice my lack of further custom they certainly won't be receiving it or any recommendation from me. Read through a lot of these reviews and you'll see several reviewers mentioning how rude they are.More

When in Rome I always find the time for a zabaione ice cream by Giolitti! Giolitti is one of the few bars in Rome that preserved both an authentic atmosphere and a very high quality standard. We had the chance to be served by true...professionals with more than 20 of experience, proud of their job and very positive. Among them Gianni gave us suggestions and made us taste the best flavours of the House. Giolitti is for real "connaisseurs"nGo!More

A slightly confusing cafe (you pay upfront and then go and order) but a great range of gelato and good sized portions. Only get the whipped cream if you’re hungry! They did a table service area too but we sat outside.

We went here in August 2020, in the aftermath (or resurgence, depending on your perspective) of COVID-19. The staff were incredibly rude and dismissive. I understand this is a famous gelateria which likely has no trouble attracting business. However, that does not give them them...right to be rude. When we approached the counter to look at the flavors, the employee seemed annoyed that he may have to scoop gelato that day. He kept telling us he was ready for our order and I said we were deciding to which he scoffed (just to clarify, they have a lot of flavors and and the placards on many were backwards). My wife asked to try a flavor and was told to go pay upfront (not a language barrier, he clearly understood). I asked if they had granita and was told to go ask someone else who then called another employee who hung up when asked about granita. I then walked over to the bar area and waited for 5 minutes for the staff there to notice me. Once he did, I asked the same question and he said he didn’t know. He then popped his head into the backroom and said, annoyed, it’s not ready yet. Just to set the stage here, there were 5-6 customers in the entire store this whole time, 4 of which were me and my family! It’s not like the 4-5 person staff working there was managing some onslaught of tourists. I don’t need to be pampered nor do I expect to be treated special for being an American tourist (as a matter of fact, we actually live in Europe now). I even try to speak Italian (which is a jumble of Spanish and Italian, I admit) to people here! I just expect people to treat others like human beings, especially when they are providing a good or service in return for hard earned money. I think the fame of this place has allowed the employees to get away with rude and unprofessional behavior. For that reason, I won’t be spending my money here (nor did I). I cannot support that. I’d recommend Gelateria Teatro or Frigaderium instead. Both are close and excellent and staffed by people who seem to understand how to interact with customers.More

Totally over the top ice cream and no better place to do it. Round the corner from the Pantheon, perfect way to relax surrounded by tourists and Romans alike. No better way to do it than the Coppa Olimpica house specials. 11 euros and worth...every penny. Not sure why people here are complaining about staff. It's an italian ice cream palace not Wendy's in South Carolina. The service is all part of the experience. You get your ice cream from an Italian - what more do you want.More
