I found this restaurant in my Rick Steve's "Rome" travel book. Turns out, it was right up the street from our hotel. It was, without question, the best meal we had on our trip to Italy, and it could very well have been one of the best meal's of our entire lives. The food is simple, yet perfectly done. We... More

We went to Hostaria Romana at the recommendation of our front desk clerk at our hotel. What he neglected to mention, is that reservations are recommended. However, the owner squeezed us in (after giving us the "evil eye" when we said that we had no reservation- then smiled and laughed and told us to follow him!), and we ended up... More

The Hostaria Romana was recommended by our hotel. We arrived 10 minutes before the restaurant opened for lunch, we were number 3 in line. The food was delicious, the staff was attentive and helpful, the prices weren't outrageous. It was probably the best food we had in Rome.

My family got lucky and arrived at the restaurant before a long line formed at the door and were seated quickly once they opened the doors around 7:15 pm. We shared a cheese "board" (skip that) but then had pastas and mixed grill which were all delicious. It's not a cheap, touristy place but the menu is translated and the... More

Great traditional roman food. Their pasta is phenomenal...especially if two or more order the same one and you get the huge bowl to eat in ;-)

Our family of 4 enjoyed this delicious meal. The gnocchi was especially good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. This is a small neighborhood restaurant that I would definitely recommend.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and they made our reservation (which was absolutely necessary - it's a popular place!) The whole experience was wonderful. The complimentary tasters were delicious, the main courses were served beautifully and the Tiramisu was to die for. To conclude we were given complimentary grapes and biscotti. I would whole heartedly recommend a visit... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Very authentic and local place - we were only one of two tables that spoke English, the rest of the dining patrons all were local Italians. Great service - the waiter spoke a little English and wonderful food. In July when we went, you definitely needed a reservation. No tables outside, but lots of... More

We finally got to go, and the food was great from start to finish. You can taste the quality of the ingredients, you're getting top notch stuff. We had sautéed clams, bucatini carbonara, cheese ravioli, veal stew, and pine nut cake and panna cotta for dessert. It's a nice little restaurant, with great waiters who speak English.

We didn't have reservations, we had read good reviews of this place, it was pouring rain, yet we went. Surprise surprise! There was a line-up already at 19:00 We were lucky enough to wait just past the entrance but the locals had no problem waiting some 45 minutes under the rain. That alone must tell you something about the place.... More

Staying in Trevi

Neighborhood Profile
Trevi
A non-stop photo and souvenir opportunity, Trevi is all about action. From early morning through the wee hours, the piazza surrounding Trevi Fountain hosts a never-ending flow of tourists hoping to make a wish or take a selfie. Clever restaurants, charming gelaterias, uncanny bars, kitsch shops, and a range of hotels make up the local landscape. Beneath the bustle are the remains of an ancient neighborhood that you can visit by heading over to a repertoire cinema and asking for a peek underground. There is something for everyone, but if peace and quiet are what you seek, plan to visit in the early morning hours.
