A very nice place attached to the famous Volpetti shop. Excellent menues and a wide range of italien wines. Very nice staff and a cosy place. Is it cheap, no, but don,t expect cheap food on this level. For us, it was worth every euro...we spent.More

On a recent very short trip to Rome, we ate at this wonderful place in in Testaccio three times rather than venture any further! Everything we tried -- carciofo gratinato, burrata with broccoletti and crostino, tagliolini with shrimp artichoke and bottarga, Pennoni with duck ragout...and orange, cinghiale stracotto and so on, followed by Chianti-frosted pear with custard and modica chocolate -- all just satisfying in every way and accompanied by excellent wine suggestions from knowledgeable and professional staff! And if that weren't enough, we were there just in time for the grand reopening of the grocery store, which will thrill the neighborhood. When travel becomes possible again, we will definitely return!More

The Volpetti grocery shop has a long tradition in their outstanding quality of the products. This restaurant opened near the shop has together the quality/variety of the products and the delicious producing of the dishes. The menu is not very long and all the proposals...are excellent. We were many at the table and tried several dishes, all very good (including the desserts). The list of wines is incredible with the best you can find in Italy. Prices are reasonable.More

If you are in testaccio this it a place where you can eat gourmet food at a time where the majority of restaurants are closed for lunch. I had a polpo and half a pasta ( carbonara) ; all very tasty! It is a rennovated...infrastructure. Wine was also extremely good (of the house) you could pick from very nice choices and not like in the majority of places. The only point I have is the price which is above average.More

Arrived early, no reservation, no problem..as long as we were finished in two hours..we were hungry, place looked amazing..we were in. Starter of meats and cheeses was fantastic, each one explained from Bergamo to Sardinia. Seconds of lovely pasta and a desert of tiramisu and...a mousse of ricotta with strawberries and a chocolate twill biscuit. Espresso finished it all off... great meal.More

Love this place. Beautiful, elegant interiors with the heart and soul that usually can only be found at a casual trattoria or osteria. Taverna Volpetti has managed to be the best of both worlds. A long-standing, highly respected local establishment in Testaccio, from the food...to the staff - everything here is top-notch. The wines by the glass and the tagliere of cheese and salami from their adjacent shop changes frequently and is always absolutely delicious. They offer the traditional Roman pastas (sometimes with a creative twist) as well as other dishes you won't find on the typical tourist menus. I am lucky to live closeby and come here frequently but each time I dine here I try to order something new. And am always amazed at the quality and hospitality of this establishment which never changes despite it's popularity among locals and tourists. I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Rome.More

I wanted to like this restaurant, as it came recommended in one of my favorite guides. The restaurant itself is a nice space, with a modern and airy feel. The wait staff were also very attentive and spoke great English. Unfortunately the food, which was...brought out at lightning speed, was at best so-so. The pasta was passable but not exceptional, the potatoes were undercooked and the chicory greens were frankly terrible (already bitter, made more so by the added lemon). Maybe I caught these guys on a bad night, and in any event given the Volpetti backing, great space and service staff, they surely have the ability to raise their game.More

After arriving Rome and our hotel in the early afternoon we searched for a restaurant nearby and selected the Volpetti. We were not diasappointed 😀. The food was very delicious and arranged very nicely so pleasing for the eyes. We tried meals with fish and...noodles. Also the stuff was very friendly and behaved with discretions.More

Great local place. Service is friendly and efficient. All waiters speak English very well. Excellent wine selection, some good beers and the food is very good (octopus, and linguini morello). Very reasonably priced. What more do you want. Off the beaten path.

Taverna Volpetti is around the corner behind the big Volpetti salumeria. We ate a late lunch here after a morning of walking through the Centro Storico and Palatine Hill down to Testaccio, so by lunchtime we were ready to sit down for a while and...enjoy a hearty meal. I had veal brisket—two big slices!—with salt-baked potatoes. Husband had the carcioffi salad followed by parrechi in a seafood tomato sauce—big fat tubes of pasta with squid and mussels. Very tasty. The menu features a lot of Italian dishes and classic preparations. The room was very pleasant, with photographs of the Volpetti building from years gone by. Although we were pretty much the last party seated for lunch, and the last party to finish, we did not feel rushed by the waitstaff.More
