Evangelista was recommended by a friend in Rome with a deep appreciation of his local culture and things well done. He also recommended - and we had - the Carciofo al Mattone, an artichoke dish that was particularly good as artichokes were in season. We also had a delicious lamb and a nice prosecco. Service? No problems there. The owner,... More

For several years we have been visiting Roman for a winter break and we always eat at Evangelista. We have never been disappointed. The baked artichoke is justifiably famous and is a must but the rest of the menu is excellent as well as is the wine list. Elegant interior and knowledgable staff all add to the attraction. Long may... More

Ablsolutely delicious! The best dessert in the City. With the artichoke "al Mattone" was an unforgettable dining experience. Thanks for the good evening.

If you are looking for loud buzz and in-your-face service that asks you 7 times how you are enjoying your meal, look elsewhere. Evangelista is a restaurant for Romans who know the difference between presentable food and truly superb cuisine and those who want a gourmet experience of food of the season selected and deliciously prepared by the chef/owner and... Evangelista is a restaurant that deserves more attention and more patrons. When we were there two weeks ago, it was practically empty, perhaps because its on a street near an auto repair shop and a dull government building. But it was elegant, the food was great, and the waiter and proprietor friendly and efficient (though not very busy). Evangelista is... More

i cannot recommend my favorite restaurant too highly. You will never forget the meals you enjoy here. The food is creative and elegant, yet served with a calm warmth that relaxes the guests and allows them to enjoy every exquisite bite.

I've been to this restaurant about a half dozen time now and the food is always excellent. The carciofo al mattone (artichoke cooked under a brick) is still one of the best appetizers I've ever had at any restaurant. It's simple, yet incredibly good. The tagliata di manzo (sliced steak) was very flavorful and tender. The mille foglie with zabalgione... More

We have been coming to this restaurant since 1998 and have never been disappointed. We would not come to Rome if we could not have the Artichokes compressed by brick(Carciofi al Mattone)! My wife had the artichokes for appetizer and for her main course.I too had the artichokes for my starter and for my main course,I had a wonderful filet of beef... This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge. When we arrived, we were initially the only ones in the restaurant. Our group arrived in stages, so we initially opted to wait for all to be present before we ordered drinks. By the time the rest of our group arrived another rather big group arrived. The owner and wait staff became... More

this is a slightly above average restaurant in the Jewish Ghetto. The signature artichokes are lovely but the rest of the dining experience is nice but not exceptional. The outside seating area has an overhang that totally covers it, so it is enclosed, so if someone lights up and you dont smoke, watch out. the service and atmosphere were fine... More
