Brilliant seafood!

Booked a table here for me and my girlfriend for our recent Rome trip, it was brilliant! We both had two courses each, I had home made purple dumplings with clams and black truffles followed by slices of beef with red wine reduction served with rosti. My GF had black ravioli filled with shrimps... read more

The restaurant was full for dinner and already had a waiting list so we added our name and returned later (was right next to our Rome Times hotel). The restaurant is nicely decorated and small and cosy. Staff were helpful and always very busy so service was slow. It felt understaffed at times. Prices were above our budget, with a... More

I love fish and I recommend this restaurant to any fish lover who is in Rome! This restaurant is small but very cosy and all waiters and cookers are very friendly and kind. I loved the grilled fish! The dishes are all interesting and I would go back for sure! Definitely worth it!

We were recommended this restaurant by the reception at our hotel and it was only a three minute walk. We didn't make a reservation and the staff didn't think they could fit us in, but they did their best and managed to squeeze us in. We were in the side room which was cosy but not cramped. They could have... More

Following the many great reviews for Matermatuta, we were delighted to get a booking while we were in Rome this weekend. None of the praise for the kitchen has been exaggerated in our opinion. Melt in the mouth scallops, really tasty lamb with chicory and a liquorice creme brulee that has to be one of the best desserts i've ever... More

My husband & I stayed at the Rome Times Hotel while in Rome for our second time and only a couple doors down is this amazing Wine and Art Restaurant. Was even more than we imagined for our 'last night' dinner and it definitely made an incredible impression that we will remember for life! Service was amazing and the staff... More

Considering the price level (€100 for 2 starters, 2 mains, 3 glasses of wine, 2 coffees, 1 desser); the food was a 4 to 5 star, the service a 2 star. Nice place, minimalistic but romantic in a way. All dishes really brilliantly presented. For starter; the fried shrimps were amazing, the grilled squid tasty but overcooked. Mains; the tuna... More

While the focus is on seafood, the menu offers some meat option worth trying. Overall great food and great by the glass wine list. Friendly service . Would come back

The settings are sober and elegant. Fairly minimalist and modern decor. The service was absolutely outstanding. The gentleman that took care of us designed a special pasta for the kids and they loved it. The raw shellfish and prawn appetiser was unbelievable. We had the tagliata and the tuna for mains. Just great. If you are in Rome you need... More

We loved Matermatuta - clean modern interior, efficient, nice servers, amazing food and wine at a fair price. We loved our dinner so much we came back the very next day for lunch. We wish we had skipped our "fancy" meal at Pipero al Rex (expensive and bad experience) and instead come back to Matermatuta. The server immediately recognized us... More
