Surprised how reasonable prices were for a restaurant in Rome. Went back two times. For 4 of us having appetizers,full meals plus lot's of vino & lemoncello for under 110 euro's what a surprise. This is really a seafood restaurant however pasta & other dishes...available.More
We visited Grotta Azzurra Ristorante as part of a Rome tour group. Frankly, my expectations were not very high as we were 40 people. Food was freshly prepared and staff was competent and courteous. Would visit again. Situated between the Vatican and Castel st Angelo.
Six of us for dinner. This place is fantastic, pizza, pasta, wine. The service is tremendous. We’ll be back!

The set menu, at €40, including wine, water and digestifs, is a veritable cornucopia. Friendly service and mainly local people enjoying their feasting
My last review on this place was an average, today i had one of my best fish restaurant experience ever. Fish super fresh, superbly prepared. Nothing fancy or sofisticate, just very well cooked. Price is ok. Service was excellent, but we arrived early, so i...cannot comment about the service when the place is fully loaded and i assume it can be packed easily due to the good quality/price prop. We wandered in early one weekday evening, and were made to feel very welcome by the senior waiter. He spoke little English but luckily we understand and speak a little 'menu' Italian, so we got along just fine. The set menu was fantastic, as long...as you like fish/shellfish! The assorted appetisers were a meal in themselves, with deep fried mini octopus my personal favourite. Next came a cream of prawn risotto to die for, followed by spaghetti with clams, a spoom, squid and prawns, fruit dessert, a bottle of house red, unlimited water and an espresso. We got ripped off on the bill. The employee sought to serve us more and more so that we spent as much money as he could get. We were charged for a 5 person meal almost 300€. The waiter was dishonest when he suggested a...200€ "fresh-caught" fish and he hadn't inform us the price and the weight, specially because it wasn't on the price list. As a suggestion for the tourists in Italy is avoid giving the waiter the power over what, or how much to bring to the table.More

Good experience, but honestly overtime the overall experience is deteriorating. Complacency? Possible. This was one of my favorite restaurant in Rome, near Sam Giovanni area. Admittedly the food quality is still on the high side, but the service, timing, the evolution of the meal sequence...has been lost. Maybe a drastic change on the crew? I am not really sure if the ownership is the same. We have been left with no water for over 15 minutes and there was no chance to have the waiter attention. He actually was very busy serving other tables, so not entirely his fault. Maybe they need an extra body. For the rest i cant complying too much. Seafood was fresh up to the point you can consume it raw. Presentation and elaboration so and so. At the very end quality vs price is good, so it' s worth a visit.More
