we stopped for lunch after visiting the piazza navona. I had meatballs which were ok. although the menu said in a green sauce and the sauce was red. my wife ordered cacio y Pepi which was awful. a gelatinous mass with little flavor. we complained...to the waiter and he was polite but shrugged it off, we later learned that this was where fettuccine Alfredo originated. it appears that they are riding on their reputation. the food was less than mediocre but very expensive. avoid this place.More

Alfredo was not good and was so so overpriced. Service is curt. Save yourself and skip it! You can have three good dinners for the price of one here.

Had a great time here, the theatrics of them making the Alfredo pasta at your table is very fun. Call ahead for reservations.

You are greeted with the curt dictum that you have one hour to eat — hardly a seductive intro to dining— the focaccia was excellent but for me the fettuccine was agglutinated by too much Alfredo sauce and a bit over cooked— tiramisu was excellent—...I think if the restaurant had a higher opinion of its dinners than itself it would go a long way to improve the dining experience— ONE AND DONEMore

The worst meal I have experienced in Rome! We decided to try this place after seeing some good reviews and there is a lot of hype around the restaurant. After visiting I do not know what for! We did not reserve but we managed to...secure a walk-in table, after being seated our waiter just seemed to disappear to then appear and serve two tables who arrived after us. Me and my partner both ordered pasta dishes which came out stone cold. Upon asking for it to be warmed up the waiter was totally uninterested in the issue. The dish then came back again stone cold. Upon leaving we were charged for the dish which was not eaten due to it being cold. The manager came over and had zero customer service skills and basically told us it was our problem and we had to pay. I would never visit this restaurant again and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. Terrible food for a high price! Avoid.More

The restaurant is incredible! It is very famous and I really recommend to make a reservation, because the lines can be huge! The fettuccine Alfredo is completely worth it, it’s one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had.

Terrible service and arrogant based on some historical reputation. It felt like we should be thankful just to get a table average food.

Worst place to eat in Italy as a whole! Overrated! Overpriced! Food is terrible: to include appetizers and main courses. Service is mediocre: ignored after being seated and orders of beverages never came. Been all over Italy for 7 days and this is hands down,...the worst food overall I’ve tasted. Maybe we came on a bad day but it has been the ultimate disappointment of Italy. To say the least, a can of Chef Boyardee noodles would have been a better experience.More

We stumbled across this restaurant with the hope of having some pasta and it did not disappoint. The pasta was lovely and the service was quick, we sat outside and it was delightful. The only criticism is the cost but is expected in the centre...of Rome. The famous Hollywood stars signatures on the wall were great to look at whilst queuing for the toilet. I half wish I’d ordered the famous Alfredo pasta dish, as it was prepared in front of you. Highly recommend.More

The place itself has a nice and appealing ambiance. However, I must address the service issue we encountered. While we were having pasta Alfredo prepared at our table, unfortunately, the waitress accidentally spilled the sauce on my partner. Despite the mishap, we were charged 45...euros for the pasta Alfredo with truffle. While we understand that truffle is a premium ingredient, we couldn't help but feel that the price did not align with the quality of the experience. There are other places in Rome where you can enjoy truffle dishes at a more reasonable price without compromising on quality."More

After spending a week in Rome I tried to cap it off with more of an upscale dinner at the birthplace of fettuccine Alfredo. This was the worst meal we had all week. The staff were not as bad as some reviews have said but...they were certainly indifferent once we told the sommelier we weren’t interested in a $100 of wine and then became surly when we didn’t want to add $80 worth of truffle oil to our fettuccine (if it’s so amazing what does it need that oil for?) Artichokes Alla giudia. Didn’t love them but had yet to try them. I just assumed they were an acquired taste. Bit like a meaty potato chip, but like a potato chip seasoning is important and this artichoke as far as I could tell had been fried as was with no seasoning added. Next the fettucini. They made it table side, which I suppose is why it’s about 10 euros more expensive than any other pasta on the menu. The staff had a spiel that went along with it that they muttered with zero enthusiasm. If you don’t want to say it I don’t need to hear it ( I couldn’t anyway). I’ve seen staff at Olive Garden sing happy birthday with more gusto. Cheese is the secret ingredient and indeed it was a 24 month aged parmesian but it was apparently the only ingredient. The cheese had a strong bitter taste, which was to be expected, but it could have been brought under control and made delicious with even a little salt or pepper. The noodles were goopy formless things that they obviously boiled en masse and had sitting around. I next ordered the pork spare ribs. If you’ve ever had spare ribs at Golden Corral you’ve had better spare ribs than you’re going to have here. Again no seasoning just a sweet sauce which was expected to do all the heavy lifting. It was accompanied by some squash and potato’s of no remark. The decor is quite nice and if you only want to feel like you’re in a Fellini movie this will do it. There are pictures of hollywood legends who have eaten there all over the wall but I can’t imagine Kirk Douglas ate the same muck I ate and then willingly allowed his picture to be placed on that wall. The reservation had said there was a strict 2 hour time limit for all tables. The entire experience mercifully lasted only and hour. It was a race between me and the staff to get me and my wife out the door. I had a panini at a hole in the wall earlier in the day and it had more flavor and more culinary pride in it than anything I had at this place. Perhaps they make better food for locals or famous Americans, I can’t say for sure but in short, just about every restaurant you will pass by on the streets of Rome is better than this one. For the love of god eat at one of them.More

Had heard via friend this was best fettuccini in Rome! Beautiful traditional restaurant and very proficient friendly staff. Food our starters, I had aubergine parmigiana which was tasty but luke warm when arrived, husband had meatballs, again tasty but not hot. The fettuccini is mixed...beside your table and it is hot! Super super thin ribbons, very tangy cheese. Now I’ve had it wouldn’t rush back. Husband had fillet steak which he said was good my steak I didn’t particularly enjoy had to cut around but of fat which I don’t like …..this restaurant is a well run machine, queues for 6.30 pm sitting and same at 9pm perhaps this has impacted on the food warmth being like a conveyor belt in the kitchen.More

Probably the most overrated restaurant in Rome this restaurant had good reviews and is all over TikTok do not bother food is just ok and far more expensive than other places that are better. The only thing that was any good was the tiramisu.

We had a group of 14 for dinner on our last night in Rome. I am not a huge fan of Fettuccine Alfredo, as it’s too rich, so I just took a taste from my daughter’s plate. I will say this was probably the best...I’ve ever tasted with two simple ingredients- butter and parmesan cheese. I ordered instead the spaghetti with three tomatoes and burrata cheese which was very good. I have an allergy to peanuts and this restaurant does use peanut oil in some dishes. I carefully explained my allergy to the waiter using an Italian language allergy card which he took back to the kitchen to show the staff. He was very careful to make sure my meal did not come into contact with any of the peanut oil dishes. The staff also were great about bringing out tiramisu with a candle in it to celebrate my daughter’s birthday.More
