People should understand that this restaurant specializes in Florentine food. It has lots of roman classics, and they do them well, for example carciofi alla Romana. But, their best dishes are Florentine first courses and second courses. The pappardelle alla cinghiale and pappardelle all' anatra (pappardelle with boar or duck) are exquisite. The steaks are superb. You have to order... More

Roman style restaurant filled with Italian -- no tourists. None of the staff spoke English. Good pasta amatriciana but it could have been spicier. Rolled roasted veal in tomato sauce, a traditional Roman dish, was good, as was roasted artichoke.

An atmospheric meat fest that is all about the atmosphere and wonderful decor inside. Great for the authentic Italian experience. Food is ok.

We booked this restaurant on line for a meal to end our walking holiday. there were 7 of us. The table was ready when we arrived and the drinks were brought swiftly. The house wine is very palatable, both red and white. The food is very good, there is a heavy meat bias so I would not recommend this for... More

Restaurant average ! Eat only pasta and drink wine of the "casa". Mozzarella is too old and a bit "crunchy" & grilled meat are fat and portion limited !

Worst pasta carbonara ever, way to salty. Lasagne was fluffy / overcooked and tasted like a lasagne you can buy in the supermarket. Very dissapointing: we are in Italy, they should give you the best. On the bill they charged €4,- extra for the couverts, strange thing and can't find that charge on the menu. The service was great and... More

Since it looked so welcoming seen from the outside, we decided to have our evening meal there. We were not disappointed. All four of us were very satisfied with our choice of pasta or meat. Would have liked to be more adventurous with the different meats offered on the menu! Very good service and staff!

Very cozy neighbourhood, bistecca alla Fiorentina can be found which is excellent, but service is too slow. Wine is good a cheap.

My friend and I went to Trastevere because we had heard there would be many good restaurants there. Il Ciak looked nice, so we went in and ordered our dinner. We were not very impressed when it arrived.... The meat was almost impossible to chew, and the "side salad" was a few green leaves and carrots. The best part of... More

The best features of Ciak (pronounced Chuck) were the wait staff and the food. Our waiter was low key and simply nice. He was more than polite - he was friendly and welcoming and warm. First course - the waiter recommended white truffle pasta, and it was to die for. On our own we selected lamb chops and grilled veggies.... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
