We stayed in the Scappana Napoli area and used it for takeout for dinner. It was around 8 o'clock, so there was no waiting to enter, and those who ate in went upstairs. In the showcase in front of the restaurant, there were several kinds of fried pizzas such as arancini, and most people were taking them out. The price is around 1.5 €. Ask the counter to take out the Margherita and pay first. 5.6 minutes to wait nearby with a receipt, Margherita! I showed him the receipt and took it home. The price is 5 €. He went back to his room. You need to prepare your own knife or fork because it is not cut. The clerk was a young person, but even if he didn't understand Italian, he could tell that he cared, so he didn't have to worry about waiting alone.

As soon as we landed in Naples, on the way to the b&b we decided to stop to get the famous wallet pizza... Well what can I say, we couldn't have made a better choice, due to hunger we took: a wallet pizza a fried pizza a croquette a pasta omelette and a bottle of water obviously everything brushed on the fly! 9 Euros, in Turin with 9 Euros you can now get a toast and a bottle of water. All incredibly good, super recommended for eating something while walking through the streets of the centre ADVISED

Extremely famous place for both pizza in the wallet and served on the plate. Arrived at 12.30pm and found a seat almost immediately, service was a little slow at that time, very good and well-filled pizza, prices from a well-known pizzeria. Still worth a try

Home at the height of the pizza: catastrophic. What a mistake, Pizzeria to flee!!! Waiters barely speak, pizzas are rubbery and food is in small quantities. We do not understand why the Neapolitans of this restaurant barely speak and point fingers to communicate. Moreover, in other restaurants, we received a good reception. This restaurant takes advantage of the fact that Bill Clinton came and lost his authenticity. Too bad because the location is convenient when visiting the historic center.

Four of us entered the place, on a Monday, so the place was half empty. We say good evening but are ignored right at the entrance. They make us sit upstairs and when asked where to sit the waiter replies where you want, we choose the table and another waiter tells us to move because we weren't comfortable there. We order, the appetizer arrives before the drinks, 4 cold omelettes we order the pizzas inedible rubbery really love an experience to forget we order the bill we are told "scnnit abbasc" really not to return

A pizza institution like Di Matteo wouldn't need reviews and yet, over the years, I have noticed a clear deterioration in both the quality of the pizza and the service and with today's experience I couldn't help but write a review. 1) I think the staff was the poorest and most uncaring one I've met in recent years and I'm not talking about the haste with which they take orders, typical of local pizzerias with a high number of customers, but the main problem is that they don't listen, they they care and only think about sending you away; we repeated about 3 times to bring sparkling water (because they had brought natural water obviously without asking us which we preferred). But it wasn't the most serious thing because, when asked to replace a dirty knife, they brought another dirty one and, pointing it out, they replied "well, we know". What do you know? That you don't wash your cutlery? 2) the pizza is not the typical thin Neapolitan pizza with well-made crusts and the look of a pizza in Via dei Courti, but a very banal pizza that I would have found in any part of Naples. 3) there were 5 of us and 3 of us wanted to pay with the pos and we therefore asked to pay divided by 3. The cashier, in the usual careless manner of this place, told us no because "they pay more". Poor. Out of everything they actually earn it was a lot to make three transactions so as not to make a bad impression on your customers. Di Matteo you were an institution. To never again.

Very normal pizza, nothing special, the service sucks, disorganized and rude. the lady at the cash desk is really rude and rude. I'll never go back there again. rather choose other pizzerias that are much nicer and where the staff presents themselves with a warm smile.

no okay we sit at the table and after 55 minutes nothing, they forgot about the pizzas. I go to the cashier because we all have to go back to work and I point it out and they respond in full, okay, let's do the bill and they make us pay 21 euros for 2 beers and a bottle of water that we ordered together with the pizzas that never arrived. This is a lack of education, it comes before professionalism. I don't know if the pizza is good and I don't want to know because they are certainly rude and they won't see me for at least 10 years. I'm waiting to see if management and heads change. Goodbye, they'll never see me again. right nearby there are at least 6 very high level poizzerias and so hello Mat.... (I don't really remember) hello what's your name.... goodbye

With a fair amount of media fame and recommended by local people, we went with high expectations, knowing we were in for an experience, albeit a spartan one, with authentic flavours. Unfortunately we were disappointed by the inattention in the service, some order requests were not satisfied, but above all by the fried foods, which in addition to lacking crunchiness were cold to the core. The bill was however honest and cheap and reported what had not been delivered, it was subtracted from the bill without any complaints. Having said that, I would have preferred to pay a little more but eat better.

I knew the pizzeria through word of mouth from friends and honestly, before going there, I had seen the reviews on this portal which gave it a rating of 4.0. After having eaten a margherita and tasted the fried pizza from my son's plate, I must say that this place deserves the highest rating with my eyes closed, but the even bigger surprise came when the bill came, of only 26 euros for 3 people!! !! Excellent service. Only flaw: venue with terrible acoustics, but who cares!

A real disappointment, the place spotted while we were walking around during the day, seemed very characteristic. We sit at the table, ready to order, we wait for someone to pass by to order, let me start by saying that there are several waiters in the room, at least 3/4, all chatting, after a certain time of waiting I ask someone who passes by if we can order , “colleague comes by” the response, ok, let's wait for the colleague. They are all gathered behind our table talking. A good 5 minutes pass, no one shows up. I try to stop another waiter who passes by; but nothing, either he doesn't hear me or he doesn't want to hear me. It's late in the evening and almost all the customers are at the end of their meal, so there is no queue to order. After another 5 minutes we got up and left, passing through all the waiters who kept talking and didn't even understand that we were leaving. Without saying that the place is quite shabby, it seems to be stuck in the 60s, and not very clean, I would have left out this detail in exchange for a good pizza and kindness. Fortunately, the historic center is full of pizzerias! A little further on we ate excellent pizza in a clean place.

Seeing all the positive reviews I trusted and maybe I just had bad luck, but my night at Di Matteo was a unique tragedy. Starting from making us sit upstairs, and then, after 15 minutes of waiting without having placed the order yet, they made us move and then realize that the other table was already occupied then sit at the first table. Another 20 minutes to wait for the order (we were leaving). Order 3 drinks, an appetizer and three pizzas (including two buffaloes and a friarelli and sausage). After less than 5 minutes we get the pizzas, without having received either the drinks or the appetizer. The pizzas were cold, I assume recycled from a wrong order (otherwise it is not explained that after 5 minutes of urination they can be cold). In addition, inedible (the mozzarella was 100% cow and not buffalo), cold, which formed like a block of cheese. The sausage and friarelli seemed like carnage. After a while we also get drinks and appetizers, which we now disgusted we refused.

Go to Naples with the desire for pizza and return from Naples with the desire for pizza .. After a short search we chose the pizzeria in question in light of the reviews and word of mouth, we waited for 2.30 pm to avoid critical times and in fact without waiting they made us sit down. The place was almost full and in fact to order we waited half an hour, among other things there was no one to ask if not some waiter who hastily cleared the tables without listening to us. Finally ordered the pizza, I must say that it arrived after about ten minutes, it had both the appearance and the taste of the classic pizza thrown in the oven at maximum power, so raw tomato and without leavening honeycomb, with a slightly bitter taste .. what else to add?

I don't understand all the positive reviews I find but I fully understand all the negative ones that have been made especially in recent times. We stopped to eat and sat inside: the waiter was rude and rude to say the least, fortunately he later disappeared and was later found behind the counter. The food? Bottom line but below expectations: the pizza was chewy, sticky to say the least, I've never eaten a pizza like that, I certainly didn't think of doing it in Naples. The fried food was nothing special and even the famous omelette didn't excite me at all, I've eaten better ones in the same street. Would I recommend it? Never!

I don't understand bad reviews. I understand that Di Matteo is famous for street food, so the interior arrangement is rather spartan, the tables are very close and the passage is narrow... But on the other hand, entering you can enjoy their pizza comfortably seated and without queuing up in the long queue that instead you do to pick up and eat in the street. Every time I return to Naples the stop at Di Matteo is a must and never disappoints. Low prices, fast service and above all excellent pizza, digestible and up to expectations and the name it brings.
