The taste of pizza in this place is simple and simply amazing. No fancy recipe, with just mozzarella and tomato sauce they can create a divine taste. We took it from the window, not inside the restaurant.
Very hot day, got a little lost, so when we arrived at the restaurant it was not so clear how to get in ! Ask and you shall get in..through the kitchen and up the stairs. Pizza is very good, aircon was on but still...very hot.. overall great place and service was fast and good.More
The only thing that prevents me from rating Di Matteo as "terrible" is the fact that the pizza was good. When I finally got it after more than one hour of waiting.
It was only very few customers so it was not a busy time....After half an hour of waiting I asked if they have an estimation of how long it takes. The waiter mumbled something, I don't know what he was saying. Soon after this I pointed out that I've been waiting more than half an hour. He just ignored me and walked away! After one hour of waiting some lady came upstairs, and I told her it has now been an hour. She said she would find out, but she never came back. I told the same thing to another waiter, and also tried to pay for the drink and just leave, since there was no point in waiting anymore, but with no success. Then I finally got the pizza. I tried to ask twice what the problem was, but got no explanation.
I have never ever before received such ignorant and rude service anywhere! I don't expect excellent service, but I expect decent service with reasonable waiting time. If someone would have bothered to come to me and explain what the problem is and give some kind of estimated time, it would have been okay. But this is not how you should treat customers.More
Me and my partner went to this restaurant because we heard many great stories about it. And let me tell you, it was amazing! The pizza was made in a very traditional way, simple but so good. The staff was friendly and the prices were...very low. We had a wonderful time. You should defenitely go there. If you go around noon you won't have to wait in line.More
another excellent Neapolitan pizza
again, you can either wait in line to sit inside (less crowded than sorbillo for example but still approx 15-20 min wait at peak times) or you can step in and grab a take away pizza
I had a long list of pizza places to try, and Di Matteo ended up in 2nd place for me. But from a price standpoint, you cannot beat it! From the outside, it looks like take out only (they have a window for take out),...but there are actually several dining rooms, one downstairs and 3 upstairs. I visited on a Monday around 8 PM and there was plenty of availability, though it definitely got crowded while I was there. I chose the Cocca pizza (with an egg on top), water, and white wine (which was served in a 1/4 liter bottle). All of this came to 10.35 euro. What a bargain!!
Not only was the pizza delicious, but the atmosphere was really relaxed - not like another place down the street where everyone is rushing around and yelling due to the crowds. I could actually calmly enjoy my meal here.
Just writing this I want to go back! Di Matteo is not to be missed in Naples.More
This is the worlds best pizza. That’s it. It doesn’t get any better. I’ll now compare all other pizza to Di Matteo.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Even when you’re a tourist who’s just a bit lost and confused.
I can’t recommend these guys...enough. Best pizza in the world!
Come on a weekday to get a table quickly, otherwise you’ll have a wait.More
Lovely place and amazing Menu. We started our trip from lunch at this place and couldnt have asked for better start of the trip. Pizzas were so flavourful and juicy. Very reasonably priced places too. We were definitely enjoying our meal very much. There wasnt...a single bit left!! Wine was great too and so cheapMore
