We chose this restaurant out of our DK Naples book and have to say it provided a basic Italian lunch. Service was friendly and the use of our guide book was appreciated and the staff assisted with our limited Italian. We had eaten better for the same price but for pasta and bread with water the meal cost 29 euros... More

Located in the very heart of Naples, close to Portalba and the Policlinico Hospital, this small restaurant is a good "messenger" of the incomparable Neapolitan cuisine. We chose cauliflower and pasta soup, small octopus in tomato sauce and sautéed friarielli (a local kind of broccoli) and two beers. Everything was delicate and tasty and service was also satisfying. We'll surely... More

Small place where people working nearby come to eat. You should know what to order since some of the dishes are really bad - was not able to finish mine. One has to pay 2 e for the service, 2 e for the bread (that you don't order) and 2 e for a small bottle of water.

We enjoyed a quiet lunch among a handful of locals on a Friday afternoon here. Good pastas and a vegetable side with a nice house red wine. It's off the main streets so it's quiet inside. The server spoke virtually no English, but she and I were able to communicate with my handful of Italian phrases. Our bill was 22... More

Cozy cantina, delicious food, inexpensive. Service was just fine. The Italian sausage is excellent. Near the archaeological museum.

Why a "surprise" ? Becaus who would have thought that in such a touristy location (top of etna) quality food would be served with grace and generosity. A large part of their clientel are locals, which expains why. ut we didn't know that when we entered. It looks like a "tour bus" restaurant, but that is where I was mistaken.... More

The service was great, the food was wonderful, the atmosphere 'authentico'. The were four hungry people for lunch, we took the last table in this busy local cantina . The calamari arrosti was outstanding in presentation and taste. The tuna and tomato bruschetta excellent . The caponata hit the mark. Don't forget to order antipasto plate with local cheeses and... Lunch after a visit to the nearby and incomparable Archaeological Museum. A Neapolitan menu: pasta with tomato and ricotta sauce and a choice of second courses ranging from fried baccala', sausage and broccoli, meatballs in tomato sauce and the real parmigiana di melanzane (an aubergine/eggplant bake). I also tasted a parmigiana with swordfish - really good. A robust red house... More

If you are looking for the pefect intimate place where to have proper food in Naples I could not recommend this Cantina more. We have discovered it by chance while wandering the alleyways of old Naples and returned twice never to be disappointed by the simple, tasty food and the ambiance which is just incomparable.

This place is right around the corner from where I stayed in Naples. It seems to have limited hours but I finally found it open for lunch today and I beat the local crowd. A lot of locals eT here Nd get take out, so I took that to be a good sign. The waiter spoke English. This is a... More
