If your a tourist or speak English don't expect good service the waiter was a JERK in a town that depends on tourists, we were discussed in his attuide manners. Food was okay service sucked! Never going back!

In Amalfi it is hard to find a quiet reasonably priced restaurant, but you don't want to come here. The service is terrible. The waiter was rude and unatentive. The food was incredibly overpriced and in poor quality. The pasta was bland, overcooked and full of oil in a bad way. We left hungry and we paid much too much... More

We spent a week in Amalfi and ate in several restaurants recommended to us by our lovely hotel, Villa Lara. Cartari didn't disappoint. We ate here twice as the first time was so good. The cooks are clearly very talented and the food looks and tastes like home cooking. The plates the food was served on were beautiful too. From... More

Amalfi is full of somewhat bogus restaurants boasting 'authentic' this and that. This place was the real deal. Small, slow, careful. The food was absolutely delicious - the best I had on my 5 day trip to Naples and Amalfi. Just a simple dish of tomato salad was lip smackingly good. The spaghetti with olives and clams wonderful too. Please... More

I have eaten here twice recently with 2 different groups of friends. The location is ok but far away from the sea front, in a small piazza half way up the main street so maybe 400m walk from the sea. The man and wife team who run the place are friendly and honest and the food is very good, fish... More

We had a lovely meal at the restaurant and the local fish was delicious. The service however is very slow and quite laid back. Worth a visit if you have the time !

Located on a tiny piazza this restaurant was full at lunchtime. Service was very friendly, portions were very good and the dishes were simple and fresh. The smoked mozzarella grilled on lemon leaves was so flavorful. I followed up with Spaghetti al Limone - a light cream sauce brightened with grated lemon rind, yummy! House wine was also good and... We shouldn't have been sitting in in the first place. We were not hungry but my wife just wanted to have that famous specialty of the area, namely fried anchovies. In short, the dish was on the menu so we sat down and tried ordering it. The waiter told us that it was not available. Here is our miss -... More

Stopped in on a rainy, chill Sunday afternoon when most other places were not yet open. Waiter wasn't especially congenial but otherwise was prompt and attentive. Started with a superb stuffed squid appetizer. Followed by a top notch ravioli with tomato sauce and basil, and an equally nice scialiatelli pasta with tomato sauce and grilled eggplant. Just really good, unassuming,... More

At the recommendation from a local store we were told this is a local hang out serving good food. Very small plain decorated and owner was running the show. Bi-lingual English and Italian we were able to communicate with him. We order tomato and mozzarella, linguini and clams, spaghetti with meat sauce and spaghetti with capers, olive and tomatoes Everything... More
