La Gattabuia was recommended by our Airbnb host and it did not disappoint. Fine dining but reasonable prices. We asked for advice on a local wine and were not disappointed with the wine and definitely not overcharged. The starter of tuna carpaccio and main of...monkfish were both amazing.More

Outstanding Place! The food is terrific, old dishes revisited in modern way. The owner is very expert in Wine, Chese and Local Food. I eat the Fusilli di Matera and Capretto coming from the “ Dolomiti Lucane” .. that Aglianico Wine was perfect with... Just...a piece of Caciocavallo Podalico..., end a special cannolo di Matera...More

So far out best restaurant in Matera. Very careful service and excellent dishes, based on good quality ingredients cooked and served with creativity and style. Well done!

Located on the Northwestern corner of the Piazza del Sedile, the restaurant is the composite of several adjoining buildings having merged. Therefore, the dining area is divided in several smaller rooms, at different levels and orientations. Service is attentive and rather prompt. The menu focuses...on classical Southern Italian fare, expertly prepared and nicely presented. There is a good list of regional wines, and the servers are well trained to offer advice.More

Very good food and service. It might deserve more than 4 points but less than 5 😉 highly recommended.

We arrived a little early and we were a little nervous that this huge restaurant was virtually empty. However, within 15 minutes there was not an empty seat. The food is very interesting and delicious. To start we had eggplant parmagen with, believe it or...not, tomato ice cream. We listened to the waiter and ordered his suggestions. There was a fabulous shrimp dish,a great pasta with calamari and many others, all amazing. The desserts were outstanding. There was a cheesecake, a chocolate mousse type dish and a few others. Just great. Please see photos with this review.More

Refined version of country specialties. Wonderful service. Interesting wine list and good local wines by the glass. Pricing seemed fair for a refined meal in very touristy Matera: we paid 100 euros for 2 for 3 courses and 2 glasses each. Leave room for their...delicious deserts (e.g. canollo, which were exceptional) ! Our best meal in the region.More

We had the seafood tasting menu. The plates were beautiful, and the flavours were on point. This resto is just below street level in a cavernous setting. still manages to be bright, clean and comfortable. A must for foodies.
