The perfect meal in a pitoresque/ traditional Matera style, in the heart of the historical center. Delicious Matera rose wine!

Perfect for lunch--organic fresh and local ingredients offering typical dishes of the area. Salads, soups, sandwiches - all expertly prepared and reasonably priced. Organic jarred offerings for purchase in the shop. Outdoor seating available.

This is a simple restaurant but the young people working there are geniuses. The pains they take to provide exactly what the customers in the restaurant desire, are disproportionate to the cost of the food - which is really reasonable. Excellent food courteously and competently served. Would I go there again if I find myself in Matera? Oh yes!

This wonderful restaurant not only serves the best food we found in the Caveoso Sassi district, but also has an ethical approach to be admired. The restaurant is situated in one of the Sassi, the caves directly off the main way through Caveoso. It serves the best of the local Cucina Povera, once regarded as poor food, now we are... More

Visited for a light sunday evening meal, chosen as we were staying locally and it looked bright and inviting and we were very happy with our choice. Despite our waitress (who I think could be the owner / manager) saying she had very little English, she was was absolutely brilliant, incredibly friendly and patient, explaining about their ethos for ingredients... Different place to eat as they don't serve pasta or pizza. The beans were very good, as well as the buschetta and panecotto. They had run out of some ingredients but we were able to make it work. Olive oil was good.

I have heard it said that it is imposible to have a bad meal in Italy. Just go to Panecotto in Matera and you will see that adage is wrong. Half of the menu is soup. Homemade right- WRONG. Canned soup and not even totally warmed up. Terrible service. UGH

Tasty and simple food, set in a beautifully restored cave, served by friendly staff. We headed for this little place for a light supper with the children after a busy day. Try the local beer , it's delicious .
