One of the best meals I've ever had. Very quaint, characteristic location and structure. Family run, very friendly. The food was phenomenal! All fresh, local fare, homemade and delicious!

Located along canyon facing side of town. Welcoming staff, pleasant waiters, makes excellent pizza and pasta dishes. The food is very good and it is remarkably cheap. I would strongly recommend this as a place to come with friends, family and couples, a highlight of our visit to Matera.

Place recommended for the hotel as perhaps the only restaurant in Matera to watch the Euro final! (taking into account that Italy wasn't playing....) Friendly staff, very accomodating, great terrace and on top of that, excellent food cooked in a traditional way. Don't be misled by the appearance of the place and enjoy the meal.

As they say, never judge a book by its cover. This 'trattoria' may not look fancy from the outside, but inside it is very warm and cozy and I couldn't be more pleased with the suggestion I was given from the B&B housekeeper to go to this place. This family-run restaurant offers an interesting selection of homemade local dishes, with... More

A very traditional menu prepared by "mamma ai fornelli" is offered in this nice restaurant in the old town.

If you visit Matera you should try this restaurant. The location is full of memories about the period of brigandage (1850) with photos and informations about a hidden part of italian history. We ordered different types of pasta and then some meat (in this part of italy the quality of meat is very high) and everyone was really satisfied. The... More

It was the owner who served us lunch. At first it seemed difficult to get a smile out of him but actually he was friendly and affable. He is proud of his heritage and gladly introduce us the region's cheese, salumi, bread and his own olive oil. The restaurant looks small from the front but besides the front dinning room,... More

We went here for diner. It's a family run restaurant so we thought it could be great. Well it was not. The pasta was not very tasty and overcooked (not al dente). The caprese was ok, nice mozarella, tomatos were ok. The veal I order was chewy but it was offered as we complained. So service was fair and friendly... More

We ate here twice as we enjoyed the experience so much. Nice atmosphere traditional décor, very rustic which we loved. Food was freshly prepared and very tasty. Wine was local, good and fantastic value. The young waiter (Pasquale) was attentive and professional and hugely proud of his mothers cooking.

We wanted a simple meal and this place provided a robust and very tasty cold antipasto plate with a grilled side dish and good house wine at a very reasonable price. Located in one of the typical cliff homes of Matera, this restuarant was very nicely decorated with antiques and had good ambiamce.
