we were a big group, more than 20 people, so we had the oportunity to try a diversity of pizzas, and one of the best things of this place is that... there are a lot of different and delicious pizzas, including with fresh ingredients on top, wich was my favourite. We could find pasta too, always a good option for... More

When we arrived we found that several restaurants were not open. We found this one near our b and b. The staff were friendly althoughit was hard to communicate in English. We had pizza one night and there was a large selection and they were excellent. We also went back and had pasta another night. The truffle one was so... More

We went here as it looked beautiful inside & not bad menu. They clearly have a lot of clientele from different places as the menu was in at least 8 different languages. We ordered 2 x Roast Lamb with peasant sausage. Some potatoes in Rosemary and roasted vegetables. We waited around half hour and ate our bread and chatted. Out... More

We just wandered down the road from our hotel and came across this restaurant. We were sat I a quiet little corner against the walls of the cave. We ordered pizza, something I would not eat often at home, and it was delicious. The price was extremely reasonable and it seemed popular with the locals - always a good sign.

This restaurant is large but plainly popular among Italians, for good reason. High standard local cuisine and wines. An enjoyable dinner.

We went to La Talpa together with our friends for dinner. That restaurant has some good reviews, great location and it looks lovely. Food was ok ( we were a bit disappointed about antipasti->over price) pasta and pizza were tasty (compliment to the chefs ) However not only good food creates good restaurant. It is also about people and their professional... More

We stumbled upon this, as it was one of the few restaurants without a hawker. Lunch was not crowded and so we had good attentiveness/service. The sampling appetizer was to die for. Five delicious plates: burata, eggplant parmesan (Italian style, of course), ricotta, fava bean dip, bread-ball (like a meatball) ... and a focaccia. All for 10€. The Killer Spaghetti... More

For a restaurant located in an amazing city, with beautiful indoor and outdoor dining facilities, they really don't have to try too hard to make dining at La Talpa a wonderful experience-but they don't. Unlike most restaurants we visited in Italy, where the staff helps customers with decisions and actually cares that you are satisfied with your meal, La Talpa... More

This place seemed like a good spot for a pizza after walking around Matera: large terraced area, a decent number of waiters and apparent popularity with Italians/locals. However the first sign of trouble came when our waiter took 15 mins to notice we were waiting to order and another 5 to actually take down the order (2 pizzas, a beer... More

My husband and I came across this lovely restaurant while walking around looking for somewhere to eat dinner in the Sassi. Luckily we came across La Talpa. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and nicely laid out. I had soup to start, then we both had pasta dishes which were delicious. We were one of the first ones in... More
