About
Like as the “lopa”,local ancient tool for the dredhing of the wells, our “home” in the heart of Sassi would like to be a catalyst of interests. Interest for good food and wines of Lucania. Interest for the beauty of ancient habitat of Sassi. Interest for the best expressions of culture to whom we’ll dedicate meetings, workshops and exhibitions. Interest - last but not least - for the rocks and stones we’re in and that we decided to restore to never cut the roots of the unique and millenary history of Matera. Interests that we want to share with friends, tourist, travellers and anybody still wants to wonder and fall in love.

This restaurant is located in Sasso Caveoso. From the street it has an unassuming look that persists to some degree upon entering. The atmosphere is very pleasant though. Like many shops and homes in this part of Matera, it is located in a cave, albeit...More

This restaurant came highly recommended by our hotel as it features local foods, the origins going back hundreds of years. Like all the buildings in Matera, this restaurant is built in a cave which adds to its charm. We were greeted at the door immediately....More

My wife and I found the food and the service excellent. The waiter recommended an excellent local wine to complement our choice of food.

Very disappointing. Extremely slow service. Extremely small portions. Mediocre food. Beautiful location but that’s not enough!

My wife and I went to ristorante la lopa last night for dinner, after being seated we waited for 15 minutes for a menu. After 20 minutes of still waiting for a menu after asking, we left.

La Lopa is owned and run by Antonella Passione. She couldn't have a more appropriate surname as you will find her passion in every aspect of this nice little restaurant. From the warm personal welcome, to the advice on what to chose from the menu,...More

Hidden, because it is below the street but if you are looking for a small dinner or snack it is a good place to go. You can sit in the small patio or in one of the comfy rooms. Plus, they have a small movie...More
