“La Lopa” is a lovely place, the decor inside is just gorgeous! It’s an ideal spot if you're looking for a non-touristy environment with quality food and wine! I visited this restaurant for lunch and had an excellent meal. I definitely recommend the spaghetti with...pumpkin cream, the “pignata” and the ice cream with wild fennel, dried figs and almond! Make sure to visit the screening room watching small movie scenes where Matera was the setting for! The service was exemplary, the servers were very attentive and always made sure we were satisfied and checked in on us often even though the tables were filled up. The red wine we drank by the glass were well selected, being both local and delicious! Unforgettable! Will definitely be going back!More

La Lopa is hands down our favorite restaurant in La Lopa. The food was decadent, service excellent, and the in-house cave cinema was just too cool. My husband, daughter and I all enjoyed it. The service staff was great and even recommended Materan wine that...would pair well with the dishes we ordered. The tagliata di manzo was outstanding and so was the home made bread. We hung out at the cinema after dinner and had a great time watching black and white movies that were set in Matera.More

Excellent price/quality performance. Very friendly and professional staff. Food was ok, but not surprising. Menus were exchanged between tables without desinfecting, not covid proof!

I’ve been there with some friends, location is absolutely suggestive. The proprietress, Antonella, a really lovely person, is so enthusiast about her job and in love with the typical cuisine, she explained us everything about the wine we were drinking and the food we were...eating, everything relevant with the local tradition. Absolutely recommended. Obligatory stop in Matera.More

Don’t look for other place! La Lopa is a stop you must make it while you visit the amazing Matera. The food is extraordinary, with the simplicity of their plates but the high level of presentation and taste you can really feel the real Lucan’s...cousin tradition. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the warm hospitality! Home away from home !More

I have been to La Lopa last summer while visiting the wonderful city of Matera and I really wanted to write this review, something which I rarely do. But La Lopa really deserved it. The atmosphere and the restaurant premises themselves are just spectacular, curated...in every single detail with lot of love and passion. The food is delicious and you can see it is made with very fresh ingredients , expertise and love. There is passion for cuisine and for serving great food transpiring from everywhere. As you may have noticed from my review the human factor is very important to me as I believe the best things are the ones made with passion and love. This is definitely the case for La Lopa thanks to her incredible owner Antonella and her wonderful team. They made me feel at home: my first time there and I felt like I was a long time regular customer! Everyone was incredibly nice and you could feel the passion they have for their work from the chef to every single waiter. I couldn't recommend enough the experience I have had so pleaseo make sure you pay a visit to Matera and have lunch or dinner at La Lopa.More

We stumbled across this beautiful hidden gem in the heart of Matera while on holiday during Christmas. We had a sensational experience given by the mix of its authentic cousine and wines served in a real Matera cava. The menu is outstanding and our favourite...dishes were the Matera bread soup with turnip greens as a starter, the purea di fave and the Pignata, served in a ‘terra-cotta’ recipient and cooked in wood-burning oven. What makes this restaurant really unique is the passionate owner, Signora Antonella, and her very friendly and professional staff. Highly recommended if you wish to spend some quality time in a warm ambience and fill your soul with a good meal. Really a good deal!More

This is a pleasant place in cave. It had good local food and wine, served with great hospitality. The shared pasta was tasty and the Basilicata wine was very well-priced (chosen by the waiter).
