We ended up here because the tapas bar across the street with much better reviews, La Santa, was closed. We had potato bravas, bread, cheese, and wine and thought it was very good. Service was fast and attentive. Prices reasonable.

The food was overpriced, dry and what I can only explain as tired. The waiter was rude and clearly didn’t want us here. Please don’t come here
Great hospitality, food is a must when in Valencia. The terrace is small but big enough. The wine is good as you would expect. The story about Virgin del Rocio, is one best told by a Spaniard.
Very poor service and expensive, the waiter was alone to cover the entire terrace and was clearly overwhelmed, we waited 30 minutes to order and had to cancel half of it in the end since everything took so long. the food is good but it’s...way too expensive for what it is. Go to the Navarro or Canalla Bistro instead!More
We loved this bar and we were recommended to come in. We would definitely recommend to others. We would encourage people to order off the tapas menu. The meat platter, croquetas, calamares and tuna were excellent. A proper Spanish bar with great food. We would...go again.More
We’ve been lunching there pretty often over the last six month. The place is a neighborhood hangout and many customers know each other. The waiters are friendly and pleasure to chat with. Sitting outside over a caña de cerveza watching people of Gran Via passing...by is relaxing. As appetizers, I’d recommend octopus salad Galician style and/or smoked sardine. Gazpacho is out of this world. For main course try pork chops.More
We came across this restaurant at 11pm as we had ventured out late. The staff accommodated us, the atmosphere sitting in the street was fab and the restaurant was buzzing with happy customers. The tapas menu was varied and food excellent quality. The bottle of...Bilbao red is definitely worth a try. Muchas gracias.More
The food was outstanding. Particularly the dog fish (cazón), fried chicken and most impressively, the papas aliñas, simple but beautiful. Service was so grumpy, we loved it.
Those of you who like the real tapas bars, need to go El Albero: a typical tapas bar with Andalusion specials.
We've been coming to El Albero for over 15 years. I used to live in Valencia, now in Switzerland, but my family is still there and almost every single time I visit we end up eating at Albero once. We like it so much that,...the day before we got married, we invited all the out-of-town attendees that were already there (my husband's Swedish so we were quite a few) for lunch at El Albero. This is a non-pretentious, traditional Andalusian tapas place. There is not much space at all to sit down inside, but there are tables on the sidewalk that are very pleasant to sit at, even in the middle of the scorching summer, since they are in the shade of big trees. We usually stick to tapas (not big dishes), beer (not wine) and soft drinks. We are big eaters and even so we usually stay on the 15-18 € range per person. Our usual picks reflect what we don't usually eat at home which is fried stuff: lágrimas (fried chicken bits), tortillas de camarones (just try them!), adobo (brined fried small pieces of cazón, which is a Mediterranean shark), puntilla (fried tiny squids that you can eat in a bite), pluma ibérica (grilled special piece of the Iberian pork, with "straw" (extra fine) fried potatoes, and at least two portions of the papas aliñás (cold boiled potatoes with a nice vinegary dressing). We don't usually eat dessert there, we either just have a coffee or go somewhere else for an ice cream. Don't be put off by the (seemingly) sour-faced waiters/waitresses, they are just very busy and great professionals. Once they get to know you they even crack a joke or two.More
Great little place amongst the various eateries in this part of town. The tapas dishes were tasty and arrived quickly. Selection of wines by the glass also good.
We grabbed the last spot to perch ourselves at the bar and had a lovely time soaking up the energy and atmosphere. Some quality tapas washed down with cold beer and plenty of locals making it a nice authentic experience. Loved El Albero as much...as we loved the great city of Valencia.More
We were out on a Monday night before a Bank holiday and found that there are few if any restaurants open in Valencia. No problem...we went to El Albero. This was the best jamon we had all week. Really outstanding. And, standing we did. We...had a group of about 25 people and had a great time eating tapas and drinking as we were 'bellied up' to the bar at El Albero. Service was excellent. Food was also really good. Jamon was best of the week. The chorizo was just right...spicey, but not blowing your head off. Squid was also very good. Beer was cold and flowing...Would highly recommend El Albero for a great stand up and mingle spot (you can also sit inside or out, but why, when the space and staff were so accommodating).More
If I lived in Valencia this would be a regular for me. Sitting outside at 11pm enjoying local tapas. Local wine and beer while watching the world slowly rumble by is my idea of heaven. Waiter was attentive but not invasive and the fish in...vinaigrette was delicious. Life is easier when it's simple and this place delivers good simple honest fair and serviceMore
Great authentic tapas served by real Spanish staff - authentic bar. The lagrimas, jamon and cazon are some fo the treats. Worth a visit at the bar or a table outside if you can get one.
