An horchateria where you can taste the traditional horchata with fartons, a kind of long biscuit, to be soaked in or you can try the traditional churros with hot chocolate. P.S. The horchata is a kind of almond milk but made by using seeds called...chufa.More

Horchata and Fartons are one of the typical Spanish breakfast and the classical flavors of Spain, especially Valencia! As I shared a post about Santa Catalina for Churros and Buñuelos, we were here again for other breakfast with Horchata. The Spanish Cuisine has some differences...than Turkish Cuisine, especially about breakfast. They usually eat something sweet in the breakfast time. Horchata is the one of the famous product of Valencia and Santa Catalina is one of the best place you can drink. Horchata is a milky drink made from tiger nuts (Chufas), water and sugar. Fresh and tasty for every hours of day. They generally service with Fartons. The classic Fartons are tasty but you should give a chance chocolate Fartons of Santa Catalina also. Historical and unique ambiance, kind and impressive service personnel and central location, other advantages of the Santa Catalina. 5€ per person. . . More

As the title suggests, best to visit on a hot summer day. Enter their historical building and setting, full of characters, then sip their nicely-chilled horchata (or 'orxata' in Valencian). Horchata's best friend, fartón, is also served here and it's very traditionally nice!

One of the best hot chocolate I ever had. Churros and fartón highly recommended. Even if it's a well known bar it is not expensive.

This wasn't our best eating/drinking experience in Valencia for me. My husband was keen to try out their traditional horchata drink which is made from tiger nuts. I choose a cappuccino instead as I have a nut allergy. I have since found that tiger buts...do not cause allergies as they are not nuts at all. Although just as well I ordered cappuccino as my husband drank half having declared the horchata undrinkable. An acquired taste I think! My main problem was being greeted the minute we sat down and being asked what we wanted with no menu and being told they didn't have menus. People around us had all kinds of things so all we could do was point at things others had and pastries in the display and guess what they were as we had no idea what was on offer without a menu. My nut allergy wasn't understood so we ordered a farton and two 'cana de chocolate'. The farton was like a long thin doughnut and was nice but but I couldn't eat the 'cana de chocolate' as they were filled with something like Nutella so contained nuts. This place is impossible for someone with a nut allergy who does not speak Spanish. On leaving we found the only menu - two sheets stuck to the door but all in Spanish and no allergy advice. On the plus side the building is interesting and has a lot of character.More

If you like horchata (I am not fun of it) it is a must for you. The interior is marvellous. Try to go when there are no school groups :-)

This is the place for hochata, churros and the proper chocolate dip sauce. Just the place. Very authentically Valencian. Good vibe and great fun.
