My girlfriend and I visited today after a rough day getting to Valencia and I found this spot in the lonely planet book! We arrived and go greeted quickly by the owner telling us he was out of Sardines - but no worries, all the...locals told us everything on the menu was brilliant and quickly recommended the Sepia (cuttlefish), mushroom and many more! We said to them send us anything and they did ! Everything we ate was gorgeous - and watching a couple like Jesus and Esther work together was amazing! How this place only has a 4 rating is a joke - we have been in Spain for 5 days and this place is the best !!More
Just popped in on a cold April day. Lovely couple, really friendly. Tapas was excellent particularly the sardines house speciality. Tiny place, no frills just a great place for lunch. Highly recommended
Went here on the strength of a recommendation and glad we did. Small, chaotic, stand up establishment with great food and the hardest working couple (Jesus & Esther) in Valencia, these guys never stop cooking, serving, talking and laughing. Has an immensely enjoyable evening and...will return here next time we visit ValenciaMore
Stopped here for a light lunch. It is only small but the food was great. We had sardines, lamb neck and peppers which were all cooked as we waited. beer and wine were enjoyable. Service was good and the lady serving was helpful. Cheap and...enjoyable, would eat here again!More
Quaint little restaurant run by a friendly couple, serving very delicious hearty tapas. The price was super, and the service very friendly. Would not recommend if you’re looking for fresh/cold options as all of them were savory and more on the oily side. But would...definitely recommend if you’re on the lookout for some comfort food. The sardines and eel were particularly delicious.More
Hole in the wall sea food tapas place in old town Valencia. We had snail, sardine and clam. All fantastic! Fun couple working there....
Can’t believe one review said service was grumpy. We have been five times in so many days and Jesus and Esther are delightful! Jesus is always smiling. The sardines and mushrooms are beyond good. Going back tonight. Making myself hungry!
We went here following a recommendation and were somewhat surprised by how small it was and that there are no tables and chairs, just stools at the bar BUT the friendly service and quality of food was fabulous (particularly the sardines which are filleted, mushrooms...and pork kebabs). We left feeling as if we had had a true ‘local’ experience and would definitely go back. It is a place to have a quick supper not a leisurely meal.More
Was chucking it down as we were visiting gothic quarter so found this in a guide book. Very authentic Valencian and tasty too. Looks of locals coming in and out, place is really small so some standing room only. We were lucky to sit at...the bar. Owner really friendly, great tapas. The garlic mushrooms and padron peppers were my favourite. Can still taste the garlic!More
i like the tapas in this place but the other day i went with one friend an he charged us 8 euros more. Check the bill when you go there, because he is writing the bill by hand and for sure he is charging more...to the foreigners.More
A tiny bar serves the most amazing food. We were lucky enough to get 3 stools and enjoyed the fun experience of ordering dishes a few at a time. Cooked to order and served in seconds almost in front of you we enjoyed the fabled...sardines, luscious but slightly crisp round the edge liver, kidneys and mushrooms. The intimacy allows you to chat with fellow diners and with reasonable wine and beers it is a delight.More
A friend of mine recommended this place after living in Valencia, and I'm so glad she did. Tiny place that you might not think was worth a stop, but they are well known for having excellent sardines! The owner was so welcoming, and despite our...severe lack of Spanish, managed to order some delicious food! The menu is written on the wall in several languages, although Google translate wasn't able to help us translate back into Spanish to order on every occasion! Wine is just €1.50-2 a glass, and the pork skewer was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, would say 4 dishes are enough between 2. We were just being greedy ordering the 5th as everything had been so good!More
Stopped in while shopping.. loved the pardon peppers (pimentos de padron) and cold beer. Add them to your must see list
Husband & wife run this excellent tapas bar. It has fast become our favourite place for tapas in Valencia. Great atmosphere, food is all freshly cooked in front of you. Tried many dishes, sardines which are a house speciality, liver and padron peppers to name...a few. Good value for money & always receive a genuine warm welcome.More
