Excellent food and service at this little French bistro. We had the set menu which is excellent value for money at 27.95 euros for 3 courses. I went for mussels to start and my husband had a bacon and walnut salad, both were very good. Mains come with a selection of veg, a peach and lovely potato gratin - I went for the lamb chops and my husband had chicken stuffed with prunes and nuts. Both mains were delicious. Our desserts were equally delicious, mine a very light chocolate cake and my husbands a raspberry cheese cake. The wine is very reasonable at 13.50 a bottle for house wine. We opted for a campo viejo at 15 euros. We were given a caramel vodka at the end of the meal which finished it off nicely. It is only small so you will need to book a table. Go and enjoy!

My second visit to the vagabond and it's part of the reason I go back to Benidorm it's so good. It's a small intimate restaurant a bit quirky with Maria who is a fantastic hostess. Greets everyone with a wonderful smile. While reading the fantastic value menus we were treated to a taste of homemade soup which to be honest is the nicest soup I've ever had. I chose the mussels which are fresh and delicious another of our group had the chef salad which she raved about. Mains so hard to choose I went for the chicken with spinach and blue cheese which I'd been thinking about since last visit (sad I know but don't judge until u see why! ). Others had lamb chops which were delicious! Pasta just the best! Chicken parmigiana I tasted it wow! And then all the desserts were delicious. I just can't believe this restaurant isn't top all the time I just wish it was near where I live. Not just the best food and value for money but Fred and Maria work so hard to make your visit special.

We visit The Vagabond every year during our annual stay in Benidorm. The fact that we return year after year is testament to the quality of this wonderful little restaurant. We visited twice during our recent one week holiday, would have been three if open on Tuesday!!! Some of our happiest memories were made here and continue to be. The food is always of the same high standard, delicious and great value. The owners Fred and Marie are wonderful and we class them both as our friends. We took some friends on this occasion one of whom is gluten free, the menu was adapted to suit her dietary needs and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal and the whole evening. Thank you, see you next year !!

This is a fabulous restaurant. I go every time I'm in Benidorm. The food is fabulous and all cooked to order. The set price 3 course menu and shot cannot be beaten for value and quality. Fred and Marie really look after you and make you feel so welcome every time. Back in October - will be in touch to make a booking.

Absolutely amazing food. Cooked fresh and tastes out of this world. Fred and Marie are great hosts and so welcoming. They do a 3 course set meant that is so reasonably priced you can afford to have more than one visit. Lovely ambiance, great food, can’t wait to go back.

Me and my family came to Benidorm for a small weekend away as we were spreading the ashes of my recently passed grandmother. We arrived at the vagabond around 30 minutes before closing time, at which time in any other restaurant you would be denied service as it is almost time to close. However the owners Fred and Maria were very friendly and welcomed us in and insisted we were not a hassle. I ordered the mussels to start which were impeccable, garlic prawns for my main which came with roasted carrots and green beans, dauphinois and some sort of a sweet peach dish. This was a lovely meal with lots of variety and flavour. I finished the meal with a homemade cheesecake topped with cream and fresh berries and melted in my mouth. It was an amazing price at €22 for a 3 course authentic French meal and in a very pleasant environment. To finish off the night in the perfect way Fred and Maria insisted on giving us free shots in honour of my grandmother. All in all this was a lovely restaurant with very hospitable and attentive staff and I would recommend the restaurant to anyone and we will definitely be returning next time we come to Benidorm. Thank you so much for a lovely night Maria and Fred.

We loved this little restaurant so much that we visited twice during our holiday and I’d recommend booking because it’s very small and very popular! Situated in the old town the restaurant had a lovely feel as soon as you walked in and was greeted by the lovely Marie. You receive a complimentary appetiser and they offer a three course set menu from 22.95 euros which is incredible value for money for the standard of food. The lamb chops, the fillet steak, the pork chop in apple and calvados were all delicious, accompanied with dauphinois potatoes (gorgeous) and fresh veg. On the second visit we didn’t even have room for desert. Wine is reasonably priced too. It’s a tiny place and you are treated like old friends. We just loved it. It’s been there 16 years so Fred and Marie are obviously doing something (everything) right! We will definitely be back to see you when we’re next in town. Thanks for two beautiful evenings!

Oh my goodness, where to start? Marie and her husband were the perfect hosts. We dropped by last night but couldn't get a table as it was so busy. We booked for this evening and it was definitely worth the wait! The 3 course menu for just under 27 euros each was excellent value, with a varied selection of dishes. Something for everyone. The complimentary shots of liquor were the perfect finish to the meal. Would definitely come back again next time we're in Benidorm. Merci beaucoup!

This is a hidden gem in the old town! We were recommended this restaurant by someone and decided to book. The welcome we got from Fred and Mary was so lovely. We were a group of 6 and we decided to go for the set menu which was €21.95 On arrival they brought out a taster of their homemade soup and some bread which was delicious. Every course was excellent and the entertainment from Fred was great! One of our group was celebrating a birthday and they made such an effort to make it special. We would all highly recommend a visit. Make sure you make a reservation as it’s a small cosy restaurant.

You must go and visit Fred and the staff at Vagabond. Everytime we go to Benidorm we always visit. The restaurant possibly only seats 30 people, and it’s not an place to visit if you are rushing - as Fred only does 1 sitting. So you get an extensive menu and three course is €22.95 per head. If you wish to pay a couple of €‘s extra for say a fillet, you can, but I really don’t think you need to as there is so much choice. I had mussels in cream as a starter, mum had prawn and advocado salad, although were very tempted with the home made soup. I then had the whisky curry prawns and mum the chicken with honey and walnuts. We both managed the Tiramisu desert, and then the host gives a small shot of your chosen nightcap. We had a decent bottle of wine which again was really reasonably priced. The staff, and Fred, the owner and chef, always make you feel welcome and your custom is appreciated. Well worth a visit - you can find the restaurant up the first side street opposite the pizza shop on the Walking street. Definitely worth a visit

Wanted something special for our 55th wedding anniversary and The Vagabond did not fail. Reservation is essential as it is a small venue and it is worth noting that they only take cash. NO CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS. Our fillet with fois gras and mushroom sauce was the best eaten in many years with the meat so tender and full of flavour. The house wine was as good as the meal which is what you would expect from a French style restaurant.

This was definitely the last time we visit Vagabond. What an insufferable owner/chef!! We waited an hour for the starter, which didn't deliver, and just as long for the main course. The lamb chops were far from what one would expect, and when this was reported, the customer was told that the chops had been bought from the butcher, and that the customer should gnaw the chops to find more meat. After this, the chef demonstratively turned his back on us ( 8pcs) and saw no more in our direction, despite the fact that we were the only customers.

Rude chef who scolds you because you remark that the lamb chops had a lot of fat on them. Blames the butcher he bought them from. Mussels which were supposed to be "marinas", were not fresh and served in a thick disgusting sauce. Dry bread. The main course chicken Royal had the same sauce on it and tasted of rancid oil. I didn't dare complain to the angry chef. On the way to the toilet there were dirty dishes and it had been a long time since the floor had been washed. It was a really unpleasant experience.

What a little gem of a place, a little bit of magic! We visited one evening and received such a lovely welcome, it reminded us of being invited into somebody’s home. Only seven covers so nice and friendly but not overwhelming. The food was delicious and plentiful. We opted for the three course menu which was an a gift on a plate at €24 Mussels Mariniere, Lamb Chops beautifully cooked with fresh vegetables, Pork Medallions in a strawberry and cassis sauce all delicious as was the potato dauphinoise. I had Tiramisu and hubby had Lemon cheesecake, just lovely. Service was great, lovely background music and a great time was had by one and all. Did notice and hear that over half of the tables taken were people returning, always a good sign. The Menu covers all posts so the choice is yours …… you obviously pay a little more for steaks but not an awful lot. Would we return, yes in a heartbeat. A lovely way to while away an evening or two, enjoy ❤️

We had been looking forward to dinner at this restaurant, but were very disappointed! The food was okay, and we had to wait an hour for the starter! The lady who served us was nice enough, but the chef seemed angry, aggressive and showed demonstrative behavior - The restaurant visit as a whole was far below par. Definitely won't go there again!
