We really enjoyed this restaurant. Very cozy and we felt as if we were in someone's house. We chose the following: asparagus in pastry lightly fried, sardines in a light tomato sauce with pistachios, cod in tomato sauce, and a house specialty, braised pork, braised and slightly blackened. Dessert was a lovely dark chocolate raspberry cake as well as an... More

The taxi driver had difficulty finding it and dropped us at the top of the road, after that we walked up and down and could not see it. I asked a local and was directed to a purple painted house with its door closed. We had booked a tabled for 9.30 and got to the door at 9.25, after knocking... More

If you want to experience a cozy and cooked from the heart Spanish meal then pick this place and you won't be disappointed. Wonderful service and you will also make two new friends as the sisters make a point of meeting their guests. The food was delicious and generous. A highlight of our Madrid trip.

The restaurant is on a side street but in a well travelled area. A small restaurant run by two sisters. They are warm and welcoming and treat their patrons as guests in their home. They even helped us choose what to order for an authentic Spanish experience. the food was delicious--as close to homemade as is possible to get in... More

This was like visiting your favorite Spanish aunts who happen to be master chefs. Cozy, homey atmosphere – because it’s literally a living room converted into a tiny restaurant. The hospitality was beyond warm – it was familial. All the dishes presented to us were delicious with truly homemade flavors. They included: for an amuse-bouche, minced fresh artichokes with olives;... More

The two sisters who run this restaurant really care about the food they service and the dining experience of the guests. Good wholesome local food, nice to have a few vegetables with the main.

We found this place on Trip Advisor and it was the best place we ate at during our while trip to Madrid. Food was excellent. We went for the menu, which included 2 starters, 2 main dishes, and two desserts. Beyond the food, the service and warmth of the place was very nice. Would definitely come back.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
