Hosting guests who've not been in madrid before, I went looking for new options and found this delightful restaurant. Thank you TA! After an initial glitch with the reservations, it was all great! Any good restaurant relies on a combination of front of house and kitchen skills ... these sisters have it down pat! The lovely lady in the dining... More

What a beautiful meal! We ordered croquetas and asparagus wrapped in pastry for starters and both were delicious. We also received two aperitivos before our starters arrived, which were delicious. Then we had pork with caramelised onions and ox tail for our main mela. They were so nice and full of flavour! The staff were beautiful, so friendly and attentive.... More

This was one of our favorite meals anywhere...and we go out to dinner as a family sport. Perfect mix of authenticity, quality, and friendliness. The sisters who run this place are wonderful. Please do yourself a favor and come here when in Madrid.

This was our last meal in Spain and the perfect end to our vacation. Small restaurant made you feel like you were eating dinner in a friends home even though you are right in the middle of the city. The sisters were wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. We tried new dishes that we had never had before and probably would... More

As a Spaniard, I have to say that this restaurant provides a pure Spanish experience. The environment resembles that of a typical house (small space, around 10 tables), and the food is wonderful, with dishes carefully chosen and prepared. The owners, (sisters Isabel and Pilar) make you feel at home, and the whole environment is just unbeatable: decoration, lights, size... More

Intimate and warm little restaurant run by two sisters who are very involved in your dining experience. In general, this could be a good thing. Food was good -- the oxtail and octopus salad both delicious. Homemade pasta also delicious. Did not love the bacalao with tomato sauce -- too fishy in taste for us, and we eat a lot... More

Despite speaking the same language, cultural differences get misunderstandings. In Spain everyone knows that the grandmothers insist on eating us all and much (no matter how old we are) and protesting from our parents because she says they spoils us. We regret the misunderstanding and thank for your visit. Isabel y Pilar More

A lovely little restaurant, not far from the Plaza Mayor and the Opera. The owners are really lovely, spending time at our table talking to us. The house wines were excellent. The food was "ok." We ordered the oxtail - which is supposedly one of their specialties, and we were completely underwhelmed. The desserts were also ok. I think that... More

This restaurant is run by two older siters. One is the chef one is the hostess. The hostess is quite sweet. The meal took 3+ hours with 1.25 hours with nothing to eat. Everything came out luke warm to cold. Too many other great restaurants in Madrid to go to this one.

We regret their bad experience in Algarabía. Sure there were a problem, because although we are slow, no one is 1'30 hours without eating. Again, sorry. More

My husband & I made reservations (needed!) for our last night in Madrid and I am so glad we did! This is a small, intimate restaurant run by two sisters who coddle their guests- trust whatever is recommended, including wine choices! I had an amazing octopus salad as a starter- clean, fresh coins of octopus over wilted arugula- SO good... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
