The OTER Group is not what used to be. This Gerardo enjoys a good reputation and provides acceptable fare. The prices are about right now the rate of exchange with the GBP is about 1.39. I was flabbergasted when they had the audacity to serve a fillet steak with “crisps” and not very good ones. This is something new and... More

They serve drinks and snacks at the bar at the entrance, but I would strongly recommend to book and go further into a cosy airy restaurant. The service is quick and waiters are attentive to details. Portions are generous and our haddock was amazing. It's perfect for a family of 3 or 10 for Sunday lunch, as well as romantic... More

Gerardo is a good restaurant. It may get 7 out to 10 points. Bread is excellent, and starters (tapas) excellent. We had two kinds of tapas, anchovies and croquetas (it seems that this is the most difficult word to pronounce in Spanish), and lamb kidneys (strange, isn't it). What it is interesting is that some dishes are priced by the... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
