It has been disappointed to come to Madrid and eat in this restaurant again, the other times had been wonderful. It has become less, poor quality service, average food. The maitre is in a hurry does not take his time to explain any of the choices. It just to be one of my favorite choices in Madrid.

Everything from the service, the ambiance and the food selection is first rate. A friendly welcome, great food selection well made, served and enjoyed with fantastic wine. A real pleasure for business or leisure. A must visit for all foodies who enjoy a long slow relaxing night. Fabulous !!

We had trouble booking a table in advance through their website but emailed them and it worked out perfectly. As far as we could tell, everyone in the restaurant except us was Spanish, and we would not have had a table if we hadn't booked in advance. We enjoyed the food, wine and service. They have a number of Basque... More

This small restaurant is being run by friendly people who truly care about your experience, which almost always results in a stellar meal. Our visit was no exception to that rule. The food was traditional Catalan. My husband's fish tasted as though it had just been pulled from the sea and was perfectly cooked. My steak was seasoned and cooked... More

Food cooked in a tasty manner with very fresh ingredients. Service was helpful and price not too expensive for the quality. I would definitely go back.

We had a lovely meal here during our recent visit to Madrid. It is an asador and the fire and the grill is visible, as is the chef, through a glass window in the first room. The room is rather dark, and decorated with paintings of people playing pelota. The food is simple, but of very good quality. The prices... More

The wine list is very comprehensive and not expensive. Funny little entrance, but once inside the restaurant is very comfortable with nice linen and glassware. We're glad we only ordered half serves as the plates were huge and we are good eaters, but even the half serves were plenty. They don't speak much English, but that is good and we... More

For proper grilled fish and meats on charcoal. Vegetables and appetizers from Navarra. Typical Asador decoration, not fancy but enough. Good cooking and service. Try the Gogote de Lubina. For dessert Panchineta. Fine wine list and reasonable prices. Owner operated and it shows. Usually busy but not crazy.

We went recently on the recommendation of our hotel.. I think the concierge misunderstood what type of restaurant we wanted! We persevered and stayed.. I would describe the dining area as very old fashioned and dated bordering on dismal .. During our very rushed meal we had to ask for our courses to be slowed down! Also a large set... More

Had dinner at Pelotari on the recommendation of work colleagues; we hadn't made a reservation but that was ok as it wasn't too busy. The service was ok but not personable. The wine suggested was fantastic, really enjoyed it. The steak was very salty and a bit chewy; also one person had fish which was dry and not quite expected... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
