We came here for dinner and was the worst of our trip in Madrid. We ordered "croquetas " and it was cold inside (not really difficult to let it defrost before frying it) and it was served with chips that were fried like 1 month ago and warmed in the microwave. DO NOT ORDER THE OCTOPUS! not even description for... More

We had 3 different but similar restaurants in mind after checking TripAdvisor and saw this one first, walking from Sol metro station. We ended up with a very drinkable bottle of Rioja (Graciosa €14), and 3 "starters" between 2 of us. Be warned, the portions are bigger than tapas! We shared Patatas con 3 Salsas (potatoes with spicy, garlic, and... More

I understand that given the location, this restaurant is unlikely to have a lot of repeat business and that, therefore, quick and efficient turnover of customers is the way forward, but I have never been rushed to a table and then through a meal quite so blatantly in decades of travel. The food was at best indifferent, the service non-existent.... More

We went for the 12 euro menu lunch prepared for a modicum of compromise. There was no compromise. What you see is what you get - there were no tricks. The quality of the food was great, the service was efficient and the value was unbelievable (literally). Recommended.

Place was heaving. Had to wait approx. 20 minutes to get table. Had parrila de carne which included pork ribs, various cuts of beef, chicken fillets, chicken wings and creole sausage. Huge dish of meat for 2 people(would easily do 3 or 4 people-OK so the 2 of us ate it all!!) Came with huge, fresh salad. Lovely chargrilled flavour.... More

Breakfast meals are between 2.50-5.00 euros and includes fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee. We went at 9am. Service was good and fast. Looking at lot of places for breakfast within a mile, this one appears the cheapest but very good.

Thank Ann T

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
