Excellent service and food at the family room establishment, off the beaten track near Islas Filipinas that is well worth a visit. Good wine list and very good food.

Typical Spanish restaurant, very friendly and good knowledge in wines and cigars. Candido is always supervising everything and has good suggestions about what to eat or drink. Easy and calmed atmosphere. You have "menu del dia" for lunch in case you don't want to search in the NICE menu carte

Pros: You can enjoy mediterranean food (depending on the season, you can find different types of fresh fish or meat or vegetables) and the price is right. Cons: You can not look at the menu, you must ask to the owner Mr. Cándido for the best choice for starters or main dish. Sazadon is off the tourist path, but easily... More

A local colleague set up this reservation originally for 6 of us at a conference at the university. Even though our numbers swelled to 20, the restaurant had no problem in adapting to the increased numbers, although it was a slow Monday night. We were all seated at a rapidly rearranged long table covered with linen tablecloths. Before each course,... More

We spent a week in Madrid and ate in a mix of touristy and local restaurants. Sazadon is off the tourist path, but easily accessible by Metro. A small door front opens into a large, white table clothed restaurant. They were solicitous about seating us away from any smoking tables when we asked. The service was excellent - they dug... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
