Stopped into La posada del dragon as the first stop on our tapas tour of Cava de Baja and it did not disappoint. Although raining, we were able to sit outside in their covered patio to have some tapas. We had the Russian salad, tiger croquettes, tripe, and oxtail. Please order yourself the Russian salad and Oxtail...they were amazing. Great... More

We had not planned on eating here but we're glad we did. Lovely setting in a courtyard with the open sky above & fresh air. The food was fresh & reasonabley priced. The service was very good & we had a lovely relaxing meal with nice tastes. The calamari was to die for.

We chose this small restaurant a bit by chance because he looked nice... and we were not disappointed. It is in the last sector of the Calle Baja coming from La Latina and quite discrete, but the atmosphere there is nice, the service efficient and friendly and the food very good. Above average and very pleasant.

We loved the look of this restaurant as we passed by so booked it for the evening meal. We were well looked after and not disappointed in the recommended choices of tapas. The highlight of the evening was the Soap special - white chocolate with a hint of lavender, which we devoured! 70€ for two.

I was travelling with a friend who used to live near this area - we had been to the local Sunday market (totally recommended BTW), and went on a hunt to find the restaurant 'with a courtyard' that she remembered. We somehow stumbled across it, and it was well worth the effort on a boiling hot day. The food was... More

Samuel-Lucas, the very friendly bar tender, makes the BEST G&T in Madrid! We stumbled across Posada del Dragon after a visit to Mercado San Miguel and what a find! He takes serious pride in his art of mixing creative cocktails that taste divine. Generous servings and quality gin options, this urban modern bar and restaurant is a must.

The service is unprofessional, slow and brave enough to engage in a politics conversation with the dinners... Even the bill was wrong...as I said what a shame!!

Great place to stay to 'embrace' real Tapas bars! Hotel is above it's own bar/restaurant in the main Tapas bar street, but no affected by 'street noise'! We had a room with balcony on the top floor looking over the street. Air con on the room means that the window can be kept closed. Excellent, helpful and friendly staff -... More

it was in the guidebook and there was a specials board outside showing a selection of 5 tapas for 14.90 euros...seemed reasonable Chucked to myself as I read the menu: thought they had written "soap" instead of " soup" but it turned out to be a very stylish tapas dessert...see photo....a really nice restaurant - I would go back

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
