We traveled to Madrid for business papers, in the night we really fancied to find a curry place, we searched on the Internet and we found this place in Lavapies a neighbourhood close Madrid Center. Very close to Plaza Santa Ana, Calle Mayor, Sol. We went for a walk and arrive to this restaurant. The decoration was very simple but... More

We wanted a quick meal before heading back to my hotel to catch Barcelona's goalless draw with Juventus.... stumble across Bombay Palace by chance. The staff, Alam, was very welcoming. He suggested meals for us patiently. We then settled with Naan (Indian Bread) with Lamb Madras ( an even spicer version of the curry ) and Prawn Saag ( Prawn... More

Great place to have amazing Indian food. We are both vegetarians and it was hard surviving in Madrid for the past 2 days. If you are from the Indian subcontinent, let them know and they will prepare desi meal for you with authentic spices, all cooked in ghee. We had a veg biryani and aloo parantha, and loved it to... Phenomenal food (at varying levels of spiciness!) Ask for the menu del dia - on weekdays this is a phenomenal value (10 euro for an appetizer, main course, dessert and drink) although it will leave you feeling very full.

This is a great restaurant to eat really spicy and delicioua food! The staff was very nice and atencious! My lamb curry medium spicy was great (although medium spicy is already quite hot haha) and they gave us free liquor and a mango lassi in the end! Lovely

We have tried at least 10 indian restaurants in Lavapies when we used to live there and by far this is the best one! Chicken Pattia is our favourite dish and all the nams, we recommend it to all our friends and we hear great comments after they try it. Attention is very good also, super friendly and welcoming staff.

We had a tiring journey and went to this place. Had a great afternoon with good food, top service and very good conversations with the owner. Recommend the place for anyone who likes spicy indian food.

I visited the place during my euro trip with friends. No doubt they served us with the best Indian food. Delicious food with a very nice staff at a great location. A must go place.

Maybe it's my fault but when we stopped here the two restaurants we wanted to try were closed for vacation and we love Indian food so we thought why not. Probably our fault as well that we ordered from the Menu del Dia. It was positively underwhelming. It was just...food. Bland food. Underseasoned food although the very watery lentil soup... More

Staying in Lavapies

Neighborhood Profile
Walking into this neighborhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighborhood.
