I was the first to arrive for dinner as I had a very early reservation by Madrid standards due to an early flight the next day. The front door was opened for me before I was able to do it myself, and I am happy to say that the service was as speedy and attentive the whole night. It can... More

For a Michelin star place it was ridiculous to found ourselves unattended with empty glasses waiting for a waiter to refill them with champaign (euro 43) for 10 mins until we called him ourselves! Nobody helped us (2 ladies) with our coats neither when we came nor when we were leaving - our coats were hanging on the chairs for... More

Two of us went for lunch and the bar area was not busy, which meant that when we arrived, nobody greeted us.. a poor start with one member of staff going to the bar to get drinks for downstairs and not meeting our gaze... ..... Come on guys! This stuff matters!!! The lovely camarero then arrived and was great for... More

We have just had lunch in Lua. At €65 it would be hard to beat on value anywhere. Strongly seafood biased it was an excellently balanced tasting menu. The only real meat dish of lamb was for us the weakest link: too sweet and heavy. Wine is very affordable with unsurprisingly a strong local focus. If you are in Madrid... More

Tried the menu degustaron. Balanced, good fusion of typical Galicia fare with innovative Japanese and Peruvian touches. Except the lamb which was not that good, the rest was excellent. Deserts were not at pair with the quality of the rest of the menu. We had wine by the glass and the river on barrica was amazing!! Price of 80 Eur... More

Great tasting menu - they weren't at all phased by my last minute request to go vegetarian. Seven courses of really interesting dishes that I thoroughly enjoyed - as did my friends. Small and intimate dining room, pleasant service and a fixed price menu. Lúa scored highly on all fronts. The final dish - 'Russian cake' was amazing (melt in... More

They work really late for dinner, but that is everywhere in Madrid. We came first and everybody was serving us. It is above and beyond experience if you take fixed meny with 9 different offerings and each one comes with pairing wine. Wow. I enjoyed all wines and everything they gave us. I would recommend for special occasions as it... More

We arrived for 9pm and were the first in the restaurant. Still getting used to Spanish dining hours! The restaurant filled quickly and was completely full by 9.30pm. Reservations essential as this place is popular. Food was of a high standard. Some dishes worked better than others, but that is always the way with degustation dining as you don't choose... More

Description
At Lua you can both eat informal food -tapas- at our new bar upstairs, or alternatively enjoy our signature cuisine by reknown Chef Manuel Dominguez, who elaborates a sophisticated Galician cuisine that will make your mouth melt in delight. Our specialities include 'nuggets' of lamb sweetbreads, octopus "a feira" and many traditional Galician dishes with a modern twist. Top cuisine in a great atmosphere. Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
