Dantxari is a Vasque cuisine restaurant it has been there for more than 15 years so you know you will eat well, go with the specials or sugeridos you cannot miss. Service is personal and I you go twice I do not know how but they will remembered you. Go for lunch, you will be back.

Enjoyed a pleasant evening here on a quiet Wednesday night. Only chose fish dishes with a couple of bottles of drinkable Rueda, each dish rich and redolent of powerful, well seasoned fishy flavours. Service was excellent too, and prices reasonable. Highly recommended.

Ok, first thing to say is that we had a good time. We booked online via Tripadvisor the day before, the restaurant had the booking and everything was really easy (even with my rubbish Spanish!). The food was good and the service was fine. It is a little more expensive than places we'd eaten at before; we even had half... More

Went here as it was recommended by a friend who lives in Madrid; I was not disappointed! Great local food with some interesting dishes on the menu. The wine list was good too, and all reasonably priced. We had a selection of breads and mixed meats to start and then some different fish dishes to follow. Everyone enjoyed the food.... More

My wife and I always eat at this wonderful basque restaurant whenever we are in Madrid. We wouldn't miss it and neither should you...but get a reservation...even for lunch. I very highly recommend the homemade fish pudding and pigs feet which are simply delicious. And the owner and maitred are extremely cordial and helpful. We can't wait to go back.... More

Tucked away on a side street off the Calle de Princesa is the lovely restaurant serving unpretentious Spanish food with style. For an appetizer, I had white asparagus that was cooked perfectly and cut with a fork like butter. It was sublime. For an entree, hake with seafood sauce. The fish was fresh and flaky and the seafood sauce had... More

As a first time visitor to Madrid, I was uncertain about my first venture into the cuisine. Dentxari (den-SAR-ee) is a charming and warm deep dive into the many splendors of Spanish food. The dining room on the first floor has a bistro-like feel, with a dark wood bar in the corner, and hewn wood beams. The warmth of the... More

his is a traditional restaurant serving Basque food near the centre of Madrid and our group had various types of fish all of which were wonderful. The service is great, very attentive but relaxed. I would recommend the anchovies and the cod in garlic and parsley. Definitely worth a visit and in my view a hidden gem.

We had a great meal at this lovely restaurant near our hotel. Small, homey-feeling and full of locals (they were still coming to eat, even families, at 9:30!) as well as visitors. They started us with a "small" bite- 2 delicious sausages- as we finally whittled our choices down (the English menu helped). We chose the pâté and the awesome... More

This is a family-style local restaurant, serving standard Spanish fare. We had starters and fish. My main course was hake done in a crab sauce, was not particularly remarkable for the price, fairly plainly cooked, whilst my wife had a small portion of deep fried hake, again nothing special. OK but not really worth what we paid. Slow service.

Staying in Arguelles

Neighborhood Profile
Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
