The restaurant was not easy to find and it looked closed from outside, but after we knocked on the door, we were let it :-) They serve a nice home cousine from the 16th century from the center of Spain. The menu is fixed and has many courses, such as vegetables chutney, sossage, cod dish, baked poultry shah, poultry pate,... More

We came to El tormo and Milagro and Enrique welcomed us in a really friendly and warm way as if we were family members. The menu is set and abundant. All the dishes were really delicious and savory. All home made and the best ingredients. The dessert was a mix of homemade manchegan dessert and came together with 3 different... More

Found this restaurant on our first evening in Madrid as it was very close to the hotel. Unprepossesing door which you had to knock to gain entrance. The husband and wife owners speak no English. There is no menu. You have a tasting menu of manchegan dishes which are explained by the wife in Spanish so it can be a... More

Don't miss this place! Come hungry because their tasting menu is dish after dish of incredible La Mancha cuisine. Every dish crafted from family recipes with great care. What made the meal memorable was the warmth and hospitality of the hosts. They treated us like family - even asking the men at the next table to translate the descriptions and... More

I'd put this on my list of restaurants to check out in Madrid after seeing rave reviews on the Spanish El Tenedor site. I knew from those reviews that the restaurant offered only a tasting menu (with some choices to suit your preferences), that the dishes were traditional (in some cases, based on historical reconstructions by the proprietess's uncle, Joaquín... We arrived at the address and thought that El Tormo was closed as we didn't see any lights or other activity. So after knocking on the door, we almost walked away until the owner opened the door and we found a very nice, homely restaurant. El Tormo doesn't have a menu but we had a tasting instead of very nice... More

This small family-owned restaurant specializes in the traditional "pastoral" food from the times of Don Quixote, that is 16th century. Nothing artificial, nothing processed -- Mamma makes it all from scratch. The menu is fixed, there were about 9 different plates of food, including slow-cooked pork/beef, homemade sausage, fish, poultry/pheasant, veg and desserts. Many of the flavors and textures were... El Tormo is a traditional spanish restaurant where you can taste different dishes from "La Mancha" region. Food is strong and very good for cold winter days. It may be something different for foreign people but if you want to know something about typical food related with "D. Quixote" home land, you have to try. It is a small cosy... More
