Visited here with my 2 friends based on the excellent reviews we had read-safe to say we were left disappointed. I feel that this place is for people who don't often cook chicken at home as my dad's chicken beats the one here! If you are looking for food that is served fast, with a basic level of taste in... We visited Casa Mingo with friends who live in Madrid. They had told us it was famous for its chicken and ever-popular with the locals. We ordered 2 chickens with a variety of other small dishes to compliment. Everything was perfectly cooked and was washed down with the restaurant's very own cider, which was also excellent. I would highly recommend... More

I was here over ten years ago and had an absolutely unforgettable time. Ordered their basics - cider, roast chicken and a yoghurt dessert which all of them matched just the way it should be. Wherever I go trying new places I always like to try their signature / basic dishes just so that you can tell what they are... More

Chicken and Cider was lovely, the chickens are spit roasted and bought to you broken up on a small plate but very tasty. There is not much else to choose on the menu so don't expect a lot and the basic wooden table and chairs soon become uncomfortable but don't let that put you off the price is reasonable, we... More

We came to eat at this place as we read so many hyped-up reviews. They were wrong! Or better: it depends what kind of food you are used to! For Northern Europeans or North Americans, this might seem like a food heaven, but if you are used to real Mediterranean cuisine, this is well below average. To start with the... More

Advised to come here for lunch by my parents who had visited Madrid a number of years before, and I'm so glad we did. AMAZING! Ok so its a chicken & cider restaurant basically, but the best chicken you will eat. My boyfriend and I sat outside and watched the world go back, away from the hustle & bustle of... More

You go to Cassa mingo for 2 things. Chicken and cider. That's pretty much all they sell so don't go expecting a huge menu. It's a Spanish sidria and is still pretty much the way it was built. The chicken is to die for its just the best chicken ever! It's rotisserie chicken so is on the bone but worth... More

During my time in Spain, I barely came across any place that served a chicken dish that was worth remembering barring Casa Mingo. They're known for their incredible roast chicken and cider for a good reason. It is a very casual, vintage, no-frills restaurant with a very basic menu (most people don't bother looking anyway). Order a plate of the... More

We went to Casa Mingo to taste its famous roast chicken and cider combination. For a chicken lover, this place is heaven. Even though Madrid is famous for its delicious ham, the chicken at Casa Mingo is the best I have ever had. A plate of Pollo Asado Entero (roast chicken) for around 11 Euros can be shared between two... More

Casa Mingo is as old school castizo as you can get. No reservations, so get there early (like UK/US early, not Madrid early - it's packed by 1pm). The menu is simple - half roast chickens, chorizo cooked in cider, sheep's cheese, lacon (roasted ham), all washed down with a choice of dry or sweet cider. We had chicken, cheese,... More

Description
Casa Mingo is the oldest cider house in Madrid, and possibly the oldest in Spain, since it opened in 1888, when it had not yet reached 60 years of the death of the great painter Francisco de Goya, who lighted up with his frescos the close hermitages of San Antonio de la Florida, designed by Ventura Rodriguez, also author of the Prado Museum, which you cannot miss, standing in a place that was considered as Real Site on the banks of the Manzanares river, as an extension of Campo del Moro's gardens and the rest of the Royal Palace gardens.
To eat well in Madrid choose Casa Mingo. Try one of our famous roasted chicken. All accompanied by a bottle of cider to round out the menu and go home with very good taste. Do not forget, no place like Casa Mingo to eat well in Madrid.
