Taking 10 people including 2 enfants to a restaurant which you gave not eaten in before for Christmas lunch is a calculated risk ! The layout including 4 tables with 8+ persons was somewhat reassuring. Fortunately not all guests had arrived at once. The menu choice was broad and appealing ... and the wine list very extensive. Taking of orders... More

Good food and delicious taste. I tried fish and seafood dishes and all were delicious; clams, grilled octopus, salted "lubina", all were great and so was the restaurant atmosphere and the service. Although everything was great, one shouldn't expect a fancy meal at this place. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious and I would come back to this... More

If in Spain, one must try the menu of the day and we struck lucky as our items included a great paella, a decent Caesar salad and an ok dessert.

La playa is a nice restaurant but there is nothing special about it. The food was ok ; the fish slightly overcooked though. We were the only clients...a sign maybe.

La Playa means the beach, and although the restaurant serves meat and fish, seafood seems to be the highlight. I had grilled rock octopus - something I've never seen on a menu before - and it was excellent. My friend who was excited about the sweetbreads she ordered (and they were fine) got a bite of the rock octopus and... More

My wife and I ate at this establishment on June 29th and had an excellent meal. The waitress Danielia was excellent, but the evening was spoiled by a group of around 20 people who were very noisy. The restaurant manager could not or did want to get the group to reduce their noise level since they were local police authorities... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
