I have heard that the locals eat here because of the freshness of the food. My friends at the dinner table told me they know where they source the food from... someone they know provides the meat to this place and they can vouch it is a good place to eat.. They were not wrong!!! Great food.. great steaks.. wine,... More

We found this place by accident and went in. The friendly waiter/barman from Romania said that the restaurant was not fully open but that he could do certain foods for us. We sat down and ordered a tuna/onion/tomato salad that was outstanding. For mains we both ordered the lemon chicken and it was fabulous. Great service. Great prices. Great company.... More

We had a very nice dinner here. The service was fantastic and food was great. They have a nice dining room area in the back. We had the steak for 3 people salad and artichoke hearts. All were very well prepared and after the meal we were all completely satisfied. We will be back.

After a long day of sightseeing, we needed a stop before going back to our hotel. In spite of being travel stained and loud(5 kids age 7-13), we could not have had nicer service. Amuse bouche, nice wine list, tasty entrees.

Second visit too De Maria as the food was so nice the first time... Still sitting at the table as so much food I cannot move. The De Maria chicken is absolutely delicious with the roast (jacket) potato which is massive. The rib eye steak also looks fantastic. Highly recommended to anyone that loves food and wine

We had only a one night stop in Madrid before flying home to the US and our hotel recommended De Maria as a nice restaurant for dinner. After a week of enjoying seafood, we all zeroed in on the word "steak" and decided to give it a try. You are right in the city center on their patio, but the... More

We came here last year as well and again food was excellent. We ate in the dining area at the back of the restaurant. ( You can also eat at the front around the bar area and outside). We were given a free glass of pink bubbly when we sat down as well as a free "shot" of gazpacho, mini... More

Brilliant restaurant, absolutely lovely food, staff very attentive and lovely atmosphere. If you like Chardonnay wine you cant go wrong with ordering a bottle of Vinas de Anna. Do not miss eating at this restaurant if you are visiting Madrid.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
