Taberna de Conspiradores doesn't look the most inviting place on Cava Baja, and it is very dark inside, but the wine we had was very nice and the salami that came with it was also very good. There are certainly smarter places nearby, but Conspiradores...More

A lovely atmosphere, I have ended up here with friends each year when in Madrid, and the food and drink remain wonderful

My favourite taberna in Madrid! The food is amazing, staff is great. It's the perfect place to spend a whole evening at. Usually not a touristy place - gives you the real Spanish feel :)

If you passing by the street you'll have the temptation to stop and have a tapa or a drink. To have a drink it's ok, more than that you'll pay more than what you'll get, at least from a quality point of view. The food...More

We got off the plane, dropped off our bags at the hotel, and went looking for this place. It was delicious. Great service/staff, good simple food. Yum. A little intimidating, as it's really frequented by locals, but that's the best part! Would very much go...More

We went here for a drink early evening and then had tapas. The duck pate was excellent as were the olives and cheese. Not strong English but staff were helpful and guided us well. Quirky decor and a very pleasant place for a stop.

On Cava Baja, this place seemed frequented by locals and me. The barkeep also cooks down at end of bar. Liked the music. Seemed more edgy than other places on Cava Baja. Good value. Tasty. Finally found albonigas in Madrid....these were penang style.

We went to Calle Baja because of the recommendations (best street for tapas) but most places seemed to be shut (this was 9pm on a Monday evening). We popped into a pinxto bar but were disappointed because it was a bit fancy and everything is...More

I completely fell in love with this place. It is a very small place where the barman is also the chef (he had a little grill at the end of the bar so you could watch him cooking). During my visit the place was full...More

Charming ambiance, delicious food (especially the Chorizo), and outstanding service!! The server went out of her way to converse with us despite the communication gap!! She was extra friendly to my 5 year old which made us feel right at home.

Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once
home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de
Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The
neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich
heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes
from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to
them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas
receives a fair amount of spillover from the center —
