Visited for an evening meal despite struggling to get a table initially. The atmosphere is excellent and staff were very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed wonderfully prepared food including beef, pork and croquets. All very tasty and washed down with excellent Spanish Vino. Overall a lovely meal and well worth a visit.

I think that with age I start to get more critical of the places I visit :). The restaurant is located in Chueca, a hot spot for many nice restaurants, just off Gran Via. To be honest I don't have any negatives, and the service was very good, but in order to get a higher rating the food needs to... More

We arrived here for a late breakfast at about 11am and the place was pumping - good music, good vibe ! We had the fresh orange juice, cortado's, croissants and a toasted Ham and cheese roll . All very good . They also have a extensive menu and a fridge filled with delicious looking take away meals.

Dinner on a Sunday Night was not a pleasant experience due to a number of factors. The usual "do you have a reservation?" no, so only the worst tables in the restaurant available. A very chirpy waitress whose familiarity grew as the evening progressed. I do not need a hand on my shoulder or to be called Cariño (darling) by... More

Diurno is located on one of four corners with delicious and impressive looking restaurants. Our hotel was only around the corner, so we decided on Diurno as we liked the atmosphere witnessed while strolling by several times. We enjoyed a quesadilla appetizer along with the bread variety. I had an amazing but also quite filling fresa (strawberry) dacquiri. My meal,... More

Third time in Madrid and third time to Diurno, and it is still as great as ever. Great location, cool, funky venue, lovely staff - especially the manager - and a really great menu of tasty food and wine at very reasonable prices. We'll continue to visit any time we are in Madrid.

We stopped in here for a pre-dinner drink. We had lovely large G&T's that they served with a small dish of sweets which I thought was brilliant. The bar area is great - a bit dark and moody but large enough to not feel cramped. Staff were friendly.

Visited on a Saturday night. Very busy with a buzzy atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was good, nothing extraordinary but enjoyable and reasonably priced.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
