Taberna Bodegas Ricla is a very authentic vermut bar and is located in a very historic area of Madrid. This brilliant bar has a very compact interior with authentic decor and furnishing's and limited outside seating. On every occasion me and my twin brother go here this superb bar is full but as it's a very small bar it doesn't take a lot to fill.
Located on C.de Cuchilleros where there's many interesting place's to go to'we visited here early in the afternoon and sat outside where we had a Vermut which were served iced cold and were well priced. If your ever in this excellent area of Madrid and you're looking for an authentic bar'give this great little bar a look.(This is my first review of the Taberna Bodegas Ricla).

My twin brother Stephen and I had just been marvelling at Plaza Mayor and with temperatures hitting 107 degrees Fahrenheit we were in need of a cooling drink so we dropped into Taberna Bodegas Ricla, been here before many times over the years, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit.
I love the look of this bar, its authentic, its beloved by the locals and the tourists who discover it,the interior is sublime ,a very cool looking ancient serving bar ,eclectic decor and furnishings, love the old bottles around the walls and there's seating both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Calle Cuchilleros.
We sat outside were we ordered a vermut each, these were served in very quick time and accompanied with a tapa dish of meat and crunchy bread that was delicious and much appreciated, we soaked up the sun while we sipped our vermut's.
I love this drink, for anyone not familiar with vermut, its a strong fortified wine infused with herbs and botanicals, best served with a hunk of ice and an olive, its just a totally delicious drink indeed, it was just so good being in such a lovely bar enjoying a quality drink sat with my twin brother Stephen, best beer companion in the world.
We really enjoyed our vermut's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Taberna Bodegas Ricla we had a great time.
Taberna Bodegas Ricla is easy to locate along Calle Cuchilleros,a street and area teeming with pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination.
Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

This family run business is wonderful. It is a restaurant that has not changed to be a tourist attraction - they are authentic and loved by locals. Be sure to try their beans and the meatballs. The front of the house is run by two brothers, and their mother is in the kitchen. You are treated like you are eating in their family kitchen. It was wonderful food, great drinks, great selection of wines, vermouth, etc. And bring cash - credit cards not accepted!

This place is FAB. Historic old building woth traditional decor. The atmosphere is great. Vermut is the house speciality - served with ice and an olive. It is very herby and wonderful. Tapas are really good too. Warm welcome and great service. It does get very busy buy that just adds to the atmosphere.

Best place near the plaza mayor. This is where real Spaniards go for tapas and a drink. One of the few places you can get vermouth on tap. A must.

If you want to drink authentic vermouth you must come here. Small, suggestive and scented place...1,80€ per glass. Absolutely a must!

Taberna Bodegas Ricla is an absolutely fantastic bar my twin brother Stephen and I discovered as we were wandering around the area near Arco De Cuchilleros and Plaza Mayor and what an absolutely great find this was.
Its only a small bar but to me its perfect, an authentic traditional Spanish interior, great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar, superb tiling features and vintage decorative features throughout the bar,its one of the cosiest bars we went to on our nine days holiday to Madrid.
We were here on a Friday late afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff who served us a beer each,we opted to have that most Spanish of beers namely Mahou red beer, these beers were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and accompanied with a great tapa each we just chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular bar.
My beer was exceptional, Mahou red beer is such a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste, very easy to drink,a beer style I really enjoy, while sipping our beers we decided to stay for another drink and opted to have some vermut's, these were served in excellent condition, for anyone not familiar with vermut its a fortified wine infused with brandy and herbs, served with a green olive a slice of orange and a big hunk of ice ,its a truly refreshing drink, the drink I most associate with Madrid and the vermut served here was quality.
We really enjoyed our beers and vermut's in here before we moved on and for a first time visit we were blown away by how good a bar this is.
Taberna Bodegas Ricla is easy to locate along Calle Cuchilleros, is close to Arco De Cuchilleros and plaza Mayor and in an area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants.
Most definitely well worth checking out if your in the area.

this was my favourite of the bars in Madrid. A traditional, authentic spanish bar with great vermut and very reasonable prices.
Stand at the bar, grab a drink and rub shoulders with locals as you enjoy a couple of tapa. Informal dining and socialising at it's best and really well located.

The real deal, just off the Plaza Mayor, north of Mercado de San Miguel, a genuine bodega with wines, tapas, manchego cheese, sherry, absolutely nothing fancy, just as real and home as it can be. More than a hundred years in business at the same location, a mother and her two sons run it now. Drop in, be polite, and join the family....Can be crowded, just go for a walk and by the time you get back there will be space for you....

This genuine spanish bodega is something you probably think you only find in the foamy back streets of some port city. The bright green walls, the fluorescent light, the wine barrels – it almost feels like you’re moved back to the 1940’s. It’s run by a family where the Mama makes the food and the sons attend the bar under the supervision of the Mama who can’t keep quiet whatever the sons are doing. It’s quite a drama sitting there and watching them work and the people coming in at 11pm reading a paper and having a glass of wine and a tapas. Remember when ordering: cash is king and no credit cards accepted – it wouldn’t be a classic bodega if not.

We wandered in here by accident one evening and loved it from the start. This is a small family run place with a good selection of beers and wines. The owners were absolutley delightful and more than happy to chat and offer advice about Madrid.
Well worth a visit.

Tiny place with loads of history run by a mother and her sons. The wine was great and the off the menu albondigas were fantastic. This place felt like we stepped back in time. So charming!

Stolling through Madrid we came across this tiny bodega with great atmosphere.
The staff was friendly, like all Spanish waiters and we had a good glass of wine and some nice tapas. Everything in this bodega fits, the colors, the staff, the clients and the (tiny) space.

Everything was great : the boquerones and the cold meats . No heating and an open door meant we left earlier than we might have .
Do go it’s authentic and good
