I mean Guau! I haven't had a meal like this for a long time. This restaurant serves delicious fresh food, served simply, but what an experience. Amazing wines too and lovely service. Don't forget to try the black truffle croquetas.

Having visited Garcia de la Navarra 4 years ago by chance, we were moved to try again on our recent trip to Madrid. We weren't even sure of the location but we sure didn't forget the wonderful food. We'll we found it and it was even more memorable this time. The meal was outstanding, the wine was excellent and the... More

Fantastic staff and exceptional food - braised beef cheek stew was particularly good, as were the heirloom tomato starters. Great wine selection and outstanding service from all of the staff. Definitely worth a visit.

The hotel recommended this restaurant, so I was not sure what I would find. The staff was attentive, always a good sign. 3 of my 4 dishes were good, the seasonal tomatoes and Parmesan and the iberico pork loin with mustard was amazing, the chocolate bom was also great. My only regret was the tripe stew, but then I was... More

Went here for a business dinner with a large group. Never been here before and with a large group . Ordering can be a challenge and our servers took the lead and ordered appetizers for the group which were the right amount. Highlight being the delicious Iberian Ham. Dinners were all very well prepared and everyone liked their main course.... More

This is our most visited restaurant near the Prado. Friendly staff, real spanish food, not too fancy but well prepared. Great wines. Vegetable dishes recomended!

We arrived in Madrid from Montreal and were a little hungry. The hotel concierge recommended this little spot around the corner. We strolled in at 3pm and planted ourselves at the bar. The staff were friendly. The wines by the glass were excellent and the food really hit the spot! We had beefsteak tomatoes with tuna belly, croquetas with ham... More

We went here based on the tripadvisor reviews. We went into the restaurant and were told they were full but they had the same restaurant next door with the same food so we went there and were found a table. The food was ok - not the best we had in our four days in Madrid, but ok. What let... More

Our hotel recommended this small deceptively excellent restaurant hidden in a dead end street near the Retiro park. The staff was helpful and friendly the sommelier recommended an excellent wine within the price range we requested and the food was excellent. We both had the red tuna special that was cooked just as we prefer with an interesting sauce.

Despite a recommendation by our hotel concierge, and the great recent reviews on Trip Adviser, we had a very average luncheon at this venue. Of our 8 day stay in Madrid , and enjoying excellent food, we were disappointed with Garcia de la Navarra. To be fair however, without knowing what was going on, we did notice other later customers... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
