We ended up in this restaurant because we wanted a place that was walking distance from our hotel, we really had no expectations other than having an acceptable dinner. Oh but where we surprised, Sal Gorda turned out to be a great place and we...had a delicious dinner. The service was also excellent! Definitely recommend this place!More
We had a lovely dinner. I particularly liked the fried artichokes and the sardines with tomato on bread. As a main I had grilled code: a huge and very tasty portion. Great wines and aperitifs offered by the restaurant. Highly recommended.
It used to be a good place for lunch or dinner. Not cheap but the relation quality/price was worthy. The service was implecable. Not any more. The quality of food has substantially downgraded as it did the service, while maintaning the prices. Look for a...different place.More
We have gone to Sal Gorda many times over the years - and it is invariably excellent.
The owners, waiters and chef are attentive and friendly. The good is top quality and beautifully prepared. The "patatas soufflé" are amazing and unique. One feels very welcome...and
cared for throughout the meal. In comparison with other top Madrid restaurants we feel the price-quality ratio is excellent.More
Looking from the outside, you would not believe the gem that is hidden behind the doors to the restaurant. The waiters are dressed very classy, they are there enthusiastic about the food offered, provide great service and also recommendations on the dishes and the wine...selection.
I started with a seafood soup, besides junks of fish you also found shrimps and various pieces of octopus in the soup. The restaurant ran out of merluza (hake), but the lomo bacalao (cod filet) was an adequate replacement. The fish was cooked to perfection, garnished with dried tomato vinaigrette, truffle and pistachios. The desert - tarta fina de manzana (baked apple pie) completed one of the best seafood dinners I had.
The wine list is well sorted, offers a good selection of red and white wines at very reasonable cost.
I would go there again in a heartbeat - hope you will enjoy it as well!More
Great quiet area to dine. The maitre d' was such a great person: helpful, enthusiastic and just charming. The food was great. I had a terrific seafood soup, followed by merluza (hake) in a green sauce with clams. Good desserts. Their specialty is an apple...tart-home made. Good selection of wines as well.More
