Our hotel recommended this restaurant as it was close by. The steak was good as was the wine. What we enjoyed most was the service and all of the extra items they brought us. The dining room booths are very comfortable for a nice relaxed dinner

Went here for our 1st dining experience in Spain. Though we were a bit early for Spaniard timing on dinner, they were incredibly attentive and welcoming. Food and drinks were amazing and we couldn't believe how affordable. The grill master shows up around 8pm to begin the true show of Spanish sausage and grilled meats on a wood fired grill... More

After spending almost a week in Spain and a few days in Morocco, my sisters, mom and I returned to Madrid for our return flight. Although we had had our fair share of local food we still wanted to eat at a high rated, local restaurant. After seeing reviews on TripAdvisor, I decided on De Maria. My sister and I... More

Great food, wonderful service and lots of extras. We had a wonderful evening here and would love to go back again. The waiter kept on bringing us tapas and drinks to compliment the meal. Excellent quality!

Chose to eat here as it was close to the Urso Hotel where we were stopping, we were very glad that we did! The staff were all very friendly and attentive.. whilst we looked at the menu and chose a bottle of Rioja the waiter brought bread, a small cup of pumpkin soup each and a dish of cream cheese..... We arrived late in the evening but we were offered dinner which was delicious and great value. We'd probably one of the best service in the city.

I had been walking around Madrid knowing that the better restaurants didn't open until 20.00 and just before then I noticed the De Maria. Menu outside looked good so I went in. As they had not started serving I sat at the bar and had a drink. The staff were very friendly and I was taken to my table a... More

We had a €12.50 3 course dinner including wine and coffee - best meal of our staff and excellent value. Sitting at the bar, we enjoyed watching the food being freshly cooked and the banter between cook and waiters. Service was excellent, and we were treated to digestifs by the staff.

We went on a recommendation of our host and it certainly did not disappoint. I had the rib eye steak which must have been 16oz and my wife had the signature dish of chicken in a mushroom sauce. Both were the best food we have eaten in a long while. What made this place stand out were all the extra... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
