On the top floor of the Mercado San Anton, we had lunch before returning home. Fig salad was good, my wife enjoyed her steak tartar and wine was 17€.

Delicious brekky at San Anton one morning: fish baguette with orange juice and coffee, good deal for only 2EURO. Nice start of the day!

Popped along following a suggestion for a later evening drink on the roof terrace. Really busy with Madrid's young professional crowd (but not a bad thing) We just had a drink and enjoyed the ambiance. Definite return here for us next spring when we are back in Madrid. Great service and not expensive

My husband and I had made a reservation for inside the restaurant however when we arrived in the evening it was warm in the restaurant and cool outside. We confirmed that we could eat outside in the smoking side of the restaurant and waited for the rest of the tables to be set up. The bartender lady made the most... More

While visiting the mercado we found ourselves exploring the terrace at the La Cocina de San Anton. The view and atmosphere were amazing and after seeing all the wonderful food in the market we decided to stay for lunch. Hands down the attraction to the restaurant was the atmosphere, particularly at lunch, but I imagine it is widely romantic at... More

This is an interesting place; on one level are various food vendor stalls, so you can get cheese, meats, fresh seafood, tapas, etc, and all the way at the top is a restaurant. As with too many places in Spain, there were too many people smoking in the outdoor area, so we took a table inside. We had a very... More

We took lunch at the restaurant, business lunch with 3 courses and the house wine. Very tasty and the house wine was great, the roof top with the right weather is the place to sit.

Thank alonsegs

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
