Featuring a nice outside terrace (heated during winter), this is a very plain, honest restaurant with a simple menu. Limited wine list, and a decent selection of local foods, made with fresh ingredients (the venue sits on top of a busy food market). Really enjoyed some chilled Verdejo and Rías Baixas accompanied by tasty & delicate 'Lomo de corvina con... More

After spending nearly four days in Madrid in sunshine and cold January weather, what better place to come on a Friday evening. Located at the top of the market it would be really hot here in summer. You are basically outside under a canvas roof, but it is well heated, so no reason to keep your coats on. As we... More

The San Anton market is less touristy than San Miguel and La Coccina (Terrrace) has a nice ambience, good food and reasonable prices .

I have been there a couple of times, and the staff has always been friendly but corteous. This last time we were quite a few for dinner. The dinner service has two shifts ( at 21:00 PM and at 23:00 PM). It is a nice place to be with friends because the restaurant is on the mercado de San Antón... More

The market of San Anton is already a great place to visit in Madrid and enjoy a tapas or a drink on the roof terrace. This restaurant offers a very good atmosphere, on the roof and on top of the market. The food is very good, mainly offering a selection of meat dishes and some seasonal options. Excellent service.

An excellent place in Chueca area with efficient service and extremely helpful host. We enjoyed their fresh ensalada rucula, the brilliant steak tartare, the excellent secreto parrilla and the yummy coulant chocolate as a desert.

The food and wine was fine. My steak was very good. However my husband had tempura prawns to start and said they were definitely not tempura (doughy batter). Unfortunately our meal was ruined by the fact we had obviously entered the smoking side of the restaurant without realising. When we wandered into the restaurant and asked for a table at... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
