We came to this place for a quick dinner, because of the good reviews, and honestly.. I really didn't like the Tacos.. I don't like giving bad reviews, but here, one of the tacos really grossed me out. It was the one with prepared pork crust.. The taco with the shredded chicken was ok, but not more than that.. Only... More

Mi Ciudad is a solid place to get authentic Mexican tacos. What struck me as different from many of the other tacos joints in Madrid was the variety of tacos beyond the safe, common flavors you find anywhere. We tried cactus (nopales) and tongua (lengua), which I hadn't seen elsewhere in Madrid. The tamale was also good. Their smaller, original... More

This place is great! I have been twice on two separate trips to Madrid in the last few months. Avocado nachos were amazing! Loads of avocado. Really enjoyed the corn fungus/mushroom - not as weird as it sounds. And the gringa is great - pineapple makes it fresh and comes with 4 pieces. Really recommend!

Quality drinks, busy but friendly, and with interesting food. Also had good vegetarian options, but I'd say check when you order. Ask for the three salsas and try the Jarritos sodas!

The only thing you will find authentic in this place is the beer, which is good... because it helps wash out the horrible taste of the overprised non-authentic mexican food. Nachos lack creation and meat.

I was in Madrid for one week and while walking around with some friends we came across this place. Being a Mexican living in Spain I feel like I absolutely HAVE to try every Mexican place I find until I discover one that finally fills the hole in my heart for Mexican food... THIS WAS IT. I'm so pleased I... More

This is as good and as cheap as it gets! And being Mexican and not being politically correct: this is also as slow as it gets, the only drawback really.. We got there right at opening (13:30) and where the 1st table. Service was very friendly and we ordered a choice of Tacos and Tamales. We got them very randomly... More

Personally I liked it so much and I am mexican! I understand when someone says the mexicasn tortillas are a bit dry, but we are in Europe and it is not easy to find them. Try the tacos of Cochinita! The tacos were deliciouds and tastes like real mexican food! Atmosphere, set up, location, service, decoration and flavor, all excellent.... More

We ordered the guacamole , it was very average. I would expect more from a mexican restaurant. Also the refried beans didnt really have any taste in our opinion. What I really liked was the quesadilla poblana. My boyfriend ordered 4 different tacos, thought 3 of them were average but he did really like the tacos al pastor. We didnt... More

Lots of tequila on display and I was lucky enough to be with a local who walked me through the best. Also tried the pulled pork tostadas. Very nice and as spicy as you like. Highly recommended

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
