Small place near Plaza Major. Known for his special fried calamari sandwiches, missives, and super staffed with these delirious battered rings! You might stay at n line to get a table, but it is worthy. Or, you can take your order away. They do also...serve tortilla and other local delicacies, but the calamari sandwiches are uniques! Prices are very affordable!More

The ONLY place to eat thats anywhere near Plaza Mayor. The rest of the restaurants are rubbish - tourist traps. This place was cheap, good, and quick. So tasty! If the line is long you can do take away.

If you want fancy - skip it. If you want local atmosphere, fast service, great food, and value for your money - this is the place. It might take a few minutes to get a table but it is worth the wait. The calamari sandwich...is world class! Prices are very reasonable. Definitely worth finding!More

If you're in Spain, go to Madrid... and if you're in Madrid and looking for a great bocadillo de calamares, near the Plaza Mayor, just look for a line outside and you'll agree that La Campana is worth the wait. They had the biggest, best...bocadillos in all of Madrid, if not all of Spain. Our whole group (8 family members) loved the place!More

Buzzing spot just off plaza mayor. They do a few different bocadillos but we got the famous calamari ones which were delicious! The bread was fresh and crunchy and the calamari cooked perfectly. The staff are very friendly and there are two separate queues for...dine in vs takeaway. Definitely a place to try in Madrid !More

Great sport for calamari sandwiches. Very busy, but friendly service. There are two lines, one for eating in, the other for take out, so find the right one.

Stumbled on this spot and it's a gem! No frills, counter service with fantastic bocadillos (sandwiches) for only 4 Euro! We had the Lomo, Chorizo, and Calamares. All were excellent. Will swing by again!

Excellent spot to enjoy the famous Madrid best calamari sandwich, they also had some sausage that looked good but didn't try, we also had some beer they were good and their seasoned olives were really good. It's a small place not luxurious at all always...a wait lane but it's worth trying if you are in Madrid. I can't wait to go back!!More

If you are hungry, drop everything and get a calimari sandwich at La Campana. Perfectly tender squid, great flavor and filling (this is not a light tapas bite).

This was recommended to us by a Madrid local and it did not disappoint. We visited outside of lunch hour so there was literally no queue and plenty of seats available. Plenty of calamari in the sandwich, and definitely fresh too. Good value for money...for this tasty snack.More

The service was excellent as were the calamari sandwiches. The tortillas were also excellent. We’ll be back. The bar is very convenient to Plaza Mayor.

we were doing our own food tour and found this as a must for calamari. it is a fast pace restaurant. When we arrived there was a small line that went quickly. in it is not really clear what to do for first timers. But...we we were seated and the menu was on wall. we asked the waiter and found out we order at the bar. they hand you a plate of olives and your drinks after you order. Then either the waiter or us can get it when it is ready. this is not a big place and it does not take long to get your food and drink. the calamari sandwich was excellent. I had a beer and thought it was very good. My family all ate the 1 order of Calamari and an order of pinchos which was skewered pork. The calamari was excellent as was the Pinchos of the pork. We all really liked the place but my 8 year old son said it best. the food is a 10 but the atmosphere is 5. I rate places on the quality of the food and this place has what you want. I highly recommend it.More

Amazing delicious calamari bocadillos as always! Good bread and lots of crispy calamari. Always busy so got to take away two times during our trip. Also tried tried pinchos of morcilla- very tasty also and comes with crusty bread. Washed down with a lovely cold...Mahou beer- perfect! Servers friendly too- I ordered both times in Spanish ( to Give it a go!) and the staff seemed pleased with this! :) Will always come back when in the area.More

We got bocadillo de calamares, bocadillo de chorizo and patatas bravos, very large queue outside for the cafe, we got a takeaway as the apartment was around the corner, not sure what the fuss was all about, I would not recommend the food, I think...they are living on their reputation. The patata bravos was a large portion but the worst I have every had and I have had many, they were not crispy at all, watched them taken from cold already partly cooked to being thown in a deep fryer for a minute then given to us. Don't waste your time go to a proper tapas bar for a proper service and high class foodMore

Looking for authentic bocadillo de calamares while in Madrid? Then head over to Bar La Campana near Plaza Mayor. Each bite of the tender calamari was balanced well with the slightly crisp coating. Fast, simple, and tasty sandwich. This bustling restaurant operates like a well...oiled machine. There are two queues, one for takeaway and one for dining in. I recommend dining in, and pairing your bocadillo with a cold beer.More
