There are tons of bars to choose from in Lavapies but I'm glad we picked this one while walking past. This place is groovy, with an interesting mix of decor themes (Pacifika, Tiki Bar, Cuban grunge) which adds to the atmosphere. The tapa that came with our dobles of cerveza were different from the usual so we decided to share... More

Four of us ate here twice and had a drink one evening; we were so taken with the food, the atmosphere, the drinks and the value for money. Both meals, we started with extensive tapas, accompanied by sherry (the Manzanilla was excellent) or beer (They have their own home brew). All the tapas were high quality, whether fish, meat or... Tortilla espanola is a really simple dish. Even the ones that aren't great, are not often horrible. This place took the cake for the world's worst tortilla espanola. it tasted of cheap supermarket packaging and was cold inside as if it had been taken out of a freezer box. We couldn't eat any of it. Also very over priced for... More

Really great food in a funky/odd restaurant setting. I had the monkfish, superb 😃 service was fine and if you engage with the staff they are lovely. Worth a visit!

This is one of the newer restaurants in Lavapies. They connect the concepts alternative and experimental in a carefully planed interior fitting. The result are innovative and exotic dishes. The staff was not so attentive and so I give only four points.

Excelent food - menu is a good choice - two courses plus drink and coffee for a reasonable price. Staff is very friendly - clientele is diverse - all different ages. Music is great. And located in Lavapiés - a must go area in Madri.

The normal tapas options aren't here, this is a flamboyant and exciting new take on tapas, and it works! So the food is great, but the service is chaotic and bordering on rude. Come with friends so you don't notice. Maybe not the best place for romance ;)

Had dinner here, that consisted of some small tapas, nothing fancy, but everything was really good and fresh, enjoyed the eclectic mix of artwork on the walls and everything that came with it. Service staff was very friendly and help.

Nice place - very colourful decor. We didn't eat, just had a few drinks - barmen were pleasant. Rain was bucketing down - I'd like to go back & chill on the terrace.

This is a great little place not too far away from Museo Reina Sofía (modern art museum) in Madrid. The walls are covered in funky and fun pictures, and in places where there is nothing drawn directly on the walls - there are paintings by local (at least at that time) artists that are available for sale. You can see... More

Located between El Rastro, Atocha, and Embajadores, the neighbourhood of Lavapiés is one of the oldest and most authentic in the city. Today, it is a laboratory of coexistence, where different races and nationalities from all over the world live together in relative harmony. And this is one of the reasons we feel so comfortable in this neighbourhood. The environment in Lavapiés reflects the philosophy that has always guided us: The Sun Rises for Everyone. Walk down Argumosa Street, better known as the "Lavapiés Boardwalk", and on Pier #11, you will find La Buga del Lobo. Speckled with sidewalk terraces, trees, and imbued with a pleasant Sunday afternoon atmosphere, Argumosa Street is the new gastronomic centre of Lavapiés. Here you will find the best of international cuisine, as well as the classic local taverns. La Buga del Lobo sinthesizes all these influences in one place.

Neighborhood Profile
Walking into this neighborhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighborhood.
