Although we were I initially not totally convinced of eating here, it was probably the best decision of the day to stay. The provided food is done with a super high quality ingredients and it is definetly worth to try out of the ordinary plates. The place is a little hidden but located in one of the most touristic places... More

After reading some previous reviews and loving our Italian food we thought we would give this one a go. My son and I were very disappointed from beginning to end with presentation, taste and enjoyment falling below what we had hoped for. Even the ice cream wasn't finished which is a miracle for a 12 year old who usually relishes... More

This place was recommended to us by our hotel and were were pleasantly surprised with how amazing the food was! Truly authentic Italian. Most of the people there are from Italy, including the chef. The pasta that my husband and I ordered was the best pasta that we've ever had in our lives, hands down. It was a dried fruit,... More

We heard a lot about this restaurant so we decided to go, maybe we over expected, but the food was average, and the desert was good. It's good located in the center, nice staff. The food was a little bit salty.

Cosy restaurant with nice ambience. Well located, right in the city center. Pasta was nice, but it was not fresh pasta. Pizza was too salty, with it's center being non eatable. Dessert was average.

I visited Madrid with two teens, tiered of Spanish food, we were lucky enough to find this simple yet delicious jewel. It is a small and not pretentious space with a very happy and friendly ambiance. The food was amazing, starting their focassia, crispy and seasoned with olive oil and spices was delicious. The provoleta with melanzanna was incredible and... More

Great little restaurant in very central place, near Plaza Mayor. Had a meal there twice; first one was a pizza and second one was Spaghetti Carbonara. Both were just great! Friendly and fast staff, good atmosphere and very reasonable price (pizza 11 e, Spaghetti 13 e). Limoncello and Nutella Espresso for dessert, yum! Will be back some day...

At the end of our 16 nights in Spain we were dying for something other than tapas. When I walked in and saw a bottle of Aperol on every table I knew we hit the jackpot. This place did NOT disappoint. Very authentic Italian. I got the pistachio pappardelle and it was out of this world!!! Highly recommended!!

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
