We went to this place after reading reviews here on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed. We had an excellent three course meal with good wine and all that goes with it, and were indeed full when we left. The service was also excellent. Good food, good portions, good service and atmosphere. Definitely something we can recommend!

I reserved a table for two for our last night in Madrid. I was very disappointed by the table we got: inside with no decent airco or refreshments.f ar from any window or fan. We ordered water, which was not cooled, then wine which was cooled a little bit. We left in a hurry because we could not stand the... More

My wife and I visited this evening for a great Madrid experience. She had a ravioli which she enjoyed immensely and I thoroughly enjoyed my Verdi pizza. The service was simple and effective. We are going back tomorrow evening. Ciao!

Great food! All pasta was homemade with fresh ingredients. You must try to eat at this place. The only bad thing was that we waited a looooong time to order our food and when the waiter asked if we wanted some Parmesan cheese to the pasta which we gladly accepted but it took to long so our pasta got cold.

We had spent the first three nights in Madrid roaming the tapas and drinks locations, and my daughter saw a sign advertising fresh-made pasta, so we tried Trattoria Malatesta, around the corner from our hotel in Centro. They were very welcoming, the multi-lingual staff helped us with the menu and we enjoyed a very nice Italian meal. Mid range in... More

Fabulous restaurant in Madrid! Quiet and quaint, and yet in the midst of a busy evening in Madrid is Malatesta. Food was superb. Service was great. Highly recommend.

We walked right over at 10.30pm without a reservation, but despite being reasonable full they set a table for us. The service was absolutely great for the rest of the night. Along with that the food was delicious. Just around the corner from the Chocolate HQ of St.Gines, the Malatesta is a wonderful restaurant to sit on on the street... More

We visited this restaurant because of the reviews on here & we weren't disappointed. The pizza, pasta & salad were fabulous. I think maybe my favourite Italian restaurant ever 👏🏻👏🏻

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
